Sounds like everything is slotting into place!

If for any reason you need a lift into MK from the airport just drop me a line as I'm more than happy to help.

This plan is really coming together beautifully! I do like it when a plan comes together...

Thanks all for your continued assistance as if I can be spared the airport run I'll be most grateful as the very next day I travel to France for my long-awaited and very much needed holiday in France so I'm going to be rather busy on pre-holiday arrangements...

I'll say a huge thanks to Jim for doing it for me. Not only the clutch but also the front brakes and handbrake cables it needed. That leaves me the back brakes to do, and get the little bits of welding and bodywork done and it's a well sorted car. Jim has been amazing, battling through what he has done. I hope both his and his dad's health continues to improve. Also thanks to the rest of team wfa who lent a hand on the bits Jim stuck on on his own. And thanks in advance to Ben for his taxi run from airport to citro towers.

It's a crying shame that activas are worth so little that a clutch failing is so dangerously close to writing it off and scrapping it. The three garages I asked for quotes, one said £1100, one said £1200, the other scratched his balls then said I couldn't possibly give you a price for that, I would charge by the hour. I assume that's garage speak for I don't want to do it but if I do then be ready to be ripped off big time! I couldn't have justified spending that on the car, having recently bought it at vastly less than the cost of a clutch. Espically as I hadn't bonded with it. Different if I had owned it for a couple of years already. And i will now need to make it a keeper to justify what I have spent and still have to to make it perfect.

Gosh! I didn't realise that was the figures quoted for the clutch job Davie! I'm quite shocked...

It is, even if all goes well, a long job and is a good day. I'm not sure what the book time is but it would be getting on for 8 hours I'm sure..

As I've said before, I've enjoyed doing the job and it's been a good bit of therapy..

Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks, not seen you now since a National Rally of a couple of years ago now when you brought down an HP20 gearbox for me from David Hallworth!

Yep, that was in my white c5, and to be honest that's another car I regret parting company with. If only I could have found a headlight for it then I think it would still have been here.

Since the garage I have used since I was 18 with my first car closed due to retirement I just cannot find one I can trust to do a decent job at a decent price.

No, that's true enough Davie.. I reckon your Activa may well have travelled a record distance to have a new clutch fitted... Not many would ship it off to a foreign country

How many miles is it between us?
