Hello from me and my C15

Unread post by DEVON DOGG »

Hello I have been looking on here for a long time but never joined

I run among other vehicles a 53 plate C15 I had one before and did 340k on the original box and engine
My C15 is a working van as part of my transport company doing 700 -1500 miles a week As far as I know I am the only one left around doing proper distance work in one .
People say why >Because can easily maintain it and keep it making money . I ove these vans and this is one I wont be breaking at the end of its working life

Welcome. Here (Andalucia) there are still thousands of C15D's running around, much beloved of local farmers, and ideally suited to the rural dirt tracks and mountain roads. Many have astronomic mileages, and even the local Citroen main dealers still service them regularly. That XUD engine was almost indestructible, if you looked after lubrication and cooling. Chief sign of age and neglect are the inward-leaning rear wheels, where the trailing arm bearings have given up!

I have that manual, too. Written when Haynes did them properly!

I don't remember those days, only those before I had learned enough to start questioning/doubting some of their procedures.

That said, I've defended them on other forum where they've been dismissed as a waste of time/space/money - but then I enjoyed the Beano & Dandy in their day.

Was thinking about that diesel manual to supplement my C15 one - which doesn't cover the later engine either - but I'm really not sure.
