Gauging interest - car collection must go

Unread post by andmcit »

I'm back so I must still be alive but it's under duress.

I haven't even been on the forum here 'hiding' so to speak let alone posting, I simply couldn't bring myself to log on and am only doing so now reluctantly.

I sadly now need to move on most of my collection of weird wonderful and in most cases rare Citroëns before they get picked up and sent to the crusher which is why I'm sounding the real diehards amongst you to ask if you would be interested in anything for yourself that I now need to move on!? There's going yo be plenty of Xantiae, Xm and CX to choose from and if I can muster respectable prices without excessive hassles it would far welcome that more than enduring idiots on ebay or dealing direct with the scrapman...

Life hasn't been particularly kind to me in the recent past with a few really nasty episodes which have all but deflated me and the one thing I really don't need right now is extra hassles, time wasting and promises that don't get followed up. I've been here now on both sides of the equation and my heart really isn't in it.
Anyway, drop me a line if you want to talk Citroëns - I haven't done so for years now.

Off the top of my head there's at least x3 s1 Activae that will need to find new homes - it kills me to even think about selling them - to be honest there's more but I'm in the process of making a list and grading completeness, condition etc. Don't expect to drive any of these as they've been off the road in some cases for quite a long time so a flatbed or trailer is necessary along with insane bravery and a sense of direction to venture into south west wales. (Swansea)

Ultimately, there's almost certainly going to be a car for everyone as I'm aiming to trim down from 90 to 30 cars...

With a looming deadline date just to quicken the pulse and sharpen the thinking process. I could try and find an alternative space but with my current luck that will likely only appear the day after I've crushed everything. Who said I'd lost my sense of humour?

I am so gutted for you, having to get rid of so many cars so quickly. Wish I had room for one but just acquired my third Activa and all mine are s2's. I have never managed to get a hold of any s1's.

Good luck on the re-homing of such a selection.

I'd be interested in one of the Activas as long as no welding is needed and the engine goes.

Andrew, good to hear from you :-D You often come up in conversation and it's good to know you're still with us even though things are not good.

It's such a shame your collection needs to be rehomed and I wish you all the very best on that... I'm sure all will find good homes.. Sadly not with me as I've done a tad of downsizing recently too...

Keep in touch!

These are runners and in won't need anything significant unless you count the odd tyre and bit of exhaust as such - the spheres and Activa rams 'should' be compliant with recommissioning. IIRC, the worst bits will be bonnet replacements (and not due to strut failure).

What colour Activa do you fancy as it looks like there'll be one grey, one green and one Dante red. I will fill in more of the gaps within the coming days as things are fluid and only just beginning to react to new situation unfolding.

Hi Jim - I can't imagine how I would come up in conversation unless it was 'remember that nutter in south wales that kept on buying Citroens...'Did I mention I may need to sell a s1/2 V6 Xantia or s1 XM too!?

You come up as a topic of conversation because you're missed and we wonder if you are OK. Nutter doesn't come into it - that's a given - with us all as Dean says

The first candidate up for the chop is going to be a spares car or a doer upper if you have a spare engine.

Blue p plate with leather air fake wood and no sunroof. It's showing 160k and it was a fully up and running cherished car that cooked it's engine overheating whilst stuck in traffic. It's been a while since I did any spannering on it but I recall the rad doesn't leak - think it was no fans forced the overheating issue.

Bodily it's straight accident damage free but has a small bluster on the middle of the nsr wing above the wheel arch where some go - it's never changed in the 10 or so years I've had it as it's been dry stored. Sadly there are small marks or scratches in the lovely blue paintwork mostly from a drugged up idiot (sad story I won't go into but I can't prove it) and from it being stored with things dropped on it etc.

It is complete and as I say a running going concern when it was last used but heaven knows what the exhaust and spheres are like with the engine not running. It's chocked up to high running height so can be moved around and onto a trailer. Tyres look good but the rims need a refurb with the metallic silver blistering off.

Best bit? It has a pukka Activa badge on the bootlid which must surely make it worth buying!! Price? No idea I haven't been tuned in to values in the past years, I've really been out of anything Citroen, but it must be worth a few quid just for the Activa specific leather and rams. Buy it take it away from me and drop it into the local crusher after taking off what you need if you must but I don't want to be forced into making that decision just yet.

Sadly I don't have facilities to do an engine swap or I'd be very tempted. I have an ex-Activa owner friend (Pete L, Jim) who's interested in going halves on getting one up to scratch.

Mine coming out, on current form and progress due to other happenings, is some way in the future yet James :(

I thought it might be a way to revive another Activa.
