Citroening's C4 By Loeb THP

Unread post by Citroening »

Evening all,

What has felt like an eternity...I'm back to having a Citroen daily driver again - I couldn't stay away...!

I saw a few of you at the CCC National Rally last July which was good to catch up, however as you may remember I was having a bit of an affair with...ahem...something of the Blue Oval variety...very good fun indeed however a summer with the Fiesta ST was enough and the hankering for something else was strong...

As you may remember prior to this for around a year and a half I had been running my black C4 By Loeb which had been seen at a few shows and meets etc however I must admit to growing to the power as it was N/A and therefore not the briskest car in the world - although was still good fun. This was the reason for moving it on and the ST was a car that I had always liked the look of and one came up - right place, right time.

The one C4 that I had always hankered after was that of my favourite model of the "By Loeb" edition, however equipped with the THP engine (Turbocharged) and 6 Speed Gearbox meaning for lots of nice torque and a great cruising gear too.

Unfortunately of the limited edition By Loeb cars, the UK only received just 36 THPs, so they've never been commonplace...

However, last month saw one crop up and here we are today - it's good to be back! :-D

My absence from forum's in general wasn't just for that of the affair with the ST, just that I have been so busy that forums had to take a back seat for a while...

Will get some more pictures sorted in the near future...

Welcome back, Franklin, and 'Ye, Gods!' I like the pocket rocket! It looks like it is shifting some even though it is parked.

Thanks Richard :)

I did love the Black C4 Davie although I must admit that the Sport Red probably just has the edge for me too :)

Also think that the Black wheels work better with the Red exterior than the usual White wheels that the Red cars have...

Cheers James, and I must say it moves fairly well! It's got more to give, too, as they're a bit strangled in standard form (euro emissions spec etc)

The DS3 guys report from the "usual" mods of exhaust, remap, intake etc see ~200BHP...

Not sure if I'll go that route but interesting all the same...!

More pictures to follow when it's clean, not raining and not dark...

That looks lovely Franklin (even if it's the wrong colour!)

Now I'll have to get to some Citroen events in 2015 to see it!

Ahh I thought you might say that...! I love the Black on these cars, but I must say that the Red is special too - I can live with both! :)

In a way it's nice to have a different colour combo' otherwise it might have been a little "too" similar to the last

Indeed be good for some events!

How is your VTS going?

I like that. I test drove a C4 when they came out, liked the car but thought it was awfully slow. Your's would be the one I meant to test drive.

Thanks Elma. :)

Ahh yes, some of the C4s can be a little underpowered and need rowing along a fair bit... For example the 1.6 16v N/A is a rather revvy engine that require a good bit of hard driving to get them going with all their peak power up the top - probably not the sort of driving one would use on a test drive!

If I remember right it was a 1.6 Hdi, I thought it would leave my xantia standing but it seemed to go at a lame rate. Like they took away the turbo lag at the expense of half the power. That was back in my uni days though so could have been any diesel engine really, memories from then are hazy at best. Cool car though, bet that'll shock the odd VXR in the playground.

Actually I really like red cars even though I've never owned one. My VTS has now passed 156000 & still going strong! I toyed with replacing it at the end of last year (but only for about 5 seconds) I mean, what with?
