Re: 1.6 hdi white/grey smoke
The car has been into a garage today and they found a small hole and some delamination in the rubber hose from diverter valve and also a split under the diverted to turbo hose. The mechanic seems to think this would cause extra smoke etc. I have noticed that the dipstick end is missing, i wonder if someone has overfilled the oil to get a reading on the (shorter) dipstick and the car has been burning off the excess?

Re: 1.6 hdi white/grey smoke
Hi
I have started to strip it down tonight, there is some black oil in the pipework from the turbo and a fair bit in the intercooler, which I have left to drain out. Presumably this isn't right? If the turbo oil seals had failed, would the oil from the turbo bearings go straight down the exhaust, just wondering how oil gets in the intercooler?
