If you haven't made the claim on your insurance then the car remains your property, not that of the other party's insurers.

I am aware of this as my Accord suffered a very similar fate. The insurers told me that I was the owner of the car and was free to dispose of it as I wished, despite having been paid as much as I had given for it.
I drove it for a year* then part exed it for the C5 estate.

MOTd a few days after the collision.

Cheryl commutes 50 miles a day for work so needs a car hence the reason for buying the 207.

The Xantia is still a perfectly drivable car, the only way you can tell it was damaged is to open and close the boot as it requires a slam to shut it. With a new rear bumper and the tow bar removing you couldn't tell it was damaged.

Unfortunately now it's going to be surplus to requirements so it'll probably be up for sale once the insurance have settled.

Well it's a bit of a sad day today really...

It's confirmed that the Xantia is being written off by the insurance. They are however leaving us with the car.

And the saddest bit of it all is that I've sold my Series 1 24v XM... The new owner is coming up to collect the car tomorrow morning at 9.30 and then driving her back to Kent where she will be pampered.

I don't think he's a forum member but he has owned a XM V6 SEi before and has fancied a 24v for a while now.

Hope he's pleased with it! [-o<

That is sad news with the Xantia but good news about the XM, I'm sure they will be happy with it 8-)

Will you have the Xantia road going again and sell it on? It sounds as though its a good example otherwise.

Which is the V6 Xantia you have remaining, is that the silver series 1 on the front page of your blog?

The Xantia is probably going to be sold as is, I just don't have the time to spend on it at the moment. Its perfectly drivable, just a ripple in the boot floor and a hole in the back bumper. The validity of the MOT will depend wether or not they place a VIC marker on the car. Will see what happens with it closer to the time.

It is indeed Chris. It's a 1997 Series 1 with 49k miles on the clock. Passed it's MOT last week so is being sold with a full 12 month ticket.

We are not the only ones planning on a bit of fleet downsizing then!

A S1 V6 with that kind of mileage must be getting a very difficult find now, good luck with its sale 8-)

As most of you all know I imported an XM 2 years ago from Malaysia that was owned byan ex-pat Citroen owner, Harry Boswell.

I've returned from holiday today to find an email from Harry's wife Stephanie informing me that Harry unfortunately passed away last month.

It came as news to me that Harry had been fighting cancer for over 10 years. Unfortunately last month he couldn't take it any more.

I'm sure all the other like minded Citroen enthusiasts will join me, sending our condolences to Harry's wife, Stephanie.

Stephanie has asked me to pass this on to the Citroen clubs that Harry used to visit, I know he used to visit XM-L, if anyone is aware of any others, I'd be grateful if they could let me know.

Just a quick update...

Cheryl n I took the 207 to Manchester and back a few weeks ago. I drove all the way with the cruise control set to exactly 70 all the way there and back. The car averaged over 65mpg.

It's comfy for long distance too, all in all a really impressive little small car.

Only irritating thing about it at the moment is the electric power steering has gotten very heavy. Had it into the dealer who confirmed that it needs a new steering rack to cure the fault. After I nearly had a coronary when they told me the rack was £1400 before fitting I was able to breath a massive sigh of relief when I found out that the car had 8 days of it's warranty remaining!

I got the claim opened asap and the car is going to the dealer on Tuesday to have it's new rack fitted :D

Right, I've been looking for something fun to drive recently and a 207 GTi was a fairly good contender.

I was then reminded that I had an Activa that I hadn't used in over a year. I dug the car out from under it's cover tonight and took it for a blast. I'd forgotten how fun it is to drive. I have however not decided that I'm not keen on the TCT engine. So.... my Activa is about to become a candidate for a V6 conversion.

I've seen this on eBay that will provide me with almost everything needed apart from a gearbox and driveshafts from a V6 406 Coupe.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-Citroen- ... 4abe2b7692

There's also a V6 manual gearbox on eBay for 90 quid and I can get a pair of brand new driveshafts for less then 100 quid.

So... hopefully by the time spring comes and I get the car back into regular service it might appear as a V6 Activa.

Here's a few pictures of my Activa:

Well I've bought that Xantia V6 this morning so we'll wait and see how it pans out when I get the car home.
