Lexia or KWP2000? Retro fitting Cruise Control on a Xantia?

Are you sure you don't have a Configuration menu in ECU diagnostics ?
The wiring is not a big problem, there is only one wire you will need - Ignition signal to the button, then this signal goes to the stalk, and from there - the three wires to the ECU.
Oh, and illumination signal for the button + Ground for the illumination and the active light

Ok.. ill check for the plug between the seats.. the stalk lever i have has got 5 wires into a brown connector.. that leaves two wires not going to the ecu..

I found a mark one 406 display on ebay.. seller descibed it as two bulb type and 30 pin plug. so i emailed them asking if there was a switch on the side but he said no... will this display not do for me then??

Don't worry, he will say 'yes'

Citroenxm, look at the schematic. 3 wires go to the ECU and 2 are supplied from the button.

I think that there is a bung covering the switch, so it may not be obvious...
You should be safe with 2 bulbs and 30 pins.

Well we shall see now.. bought it.. was only 17 quid delivered.. just need to work out which route to get through the bulk head to the ecu now for the wires..

having a trip computer will actually help me save fuel as im facinated with getting the numbers as high as possible. .

It helped me when i boight dads little c2 hdi back from south wales.. it was on instant consumption and cost me 15 quid...

I look at mine and when it says 999.9mpg.

But more often when it says 13.2 mpg.
Still seem to get 32mpg out of this heap, as with the previous one.
Could be the lead-soled doc's of course

Defenatley steve... i get 45 average from the xantia 110.. my customer when he used his c5 110 averaged on his display was 52!! but he has a feather foot..

I was talking to one of the guys at work who has a M*&%^o with the 2.0 diesel (Peugeot/Citroen unit IIRC) and he gets 50+ and has a foot that makes lead look like feathers, v. quick too.

Just got mine back from Mr Fixit. New rear brakes, complete. Full service, MAF cleaned along with boost pipes, replaced temp sensor which was giving erratic signals, throttle cable adjusted.
While he had it I had my estate back from him and he'd tweaked that so it was impressively quick. Speedo buggered so not sure quite how quick but it upset an Audi TT Quattro.

He has done the same with the hatch and it is now unrecognisable as the car it was last week.
Throttle cable adjustment was the biggest contributory factor to it's lack of performance but other things didn't help.
Needs injector 2 refurbished and at the same time he will fit a new timing belt & water pump, replace a tyre (bleb in it - recent tyre too.) and fix a gearbox oil leak which will need the gearbox oil replacing again - he changed it along with the service and the new reversing light switch.
Engine flushed with Forte flushing oil.

Hopefully this will help the fuel consumption but I think the problem lies between the steering wheel and the seat.

mine is pretty much 45mpg if I am careful.. but somehow this car doesn't really make want to be anything else.. once momentum is built up, it's just a question of keeping it rolling.. feels like a barge

Prehaps I need to dig a bit deeper to see if the connections are there around the steering colum.. I had the cowling off, and the side panel that has the Rear Window Cut off switch out, and I couldn't see the cruise actuvate plug or the speed selector plug on the colum... No matter, Ill cut a hole in the colum cowling mount the speed lever, and wire it up. It helps that I work in a Harness Manufacturing enviroment, so wiring doesnt worry me..

Getting through the bulk head to the cars ECU will be a challenge if the cruise harness is really missing though!

You need to pass the cable through the door column with the cables going to the door. But when you are in the column the cable should go front towards the front tire. When you take out the plastic above and around the tire (don't know it in English) you will see holes with rubber caps on the column. So your cable will go out of the column through one of these holes. Lead it to the front and find a hole where you can go under the hood. There is one behind the front right light over the wipers fluid, but I saw it with bumper down.
I can show you pictures of these wiring process made on the left side, but not right now...

Or... you can just drill a hole in the rubber around the steering column. I prefer the first way
