C5 II parking sensor supplier
Hi all,
Wifey dearest came in yesterday, complaining that the C5 (56 plate Exclusive) has been shouting at her that its parking sensor system has given in. Maybe she was just working it too hard?!
Once duly hooked up to Lexia (the car, not the wife), the outer driver’s front sensor appears to be kaput (error code: 9BCC). I have taken the sensor off and it has obviously taken a whack on the front, with a small chip being taken out of its metal head, which must be the problem.
Does anyone know where I can get a new replacement from, other from a dealer? Is there a good online site? – ECP doesn’’t stock them and GSF’s site is offline (let’s hope its terrible mail order system is being consigned to history).
The part number are:
PSA: 96 496 141 77 XT
Bosch: 0263 003 246 965.
Can anyone recommend a reputable supplier?

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
Very expensive from Citroen - one for my C4 was priced at +£50 (More than the cost of an aftermarket kit!!) . I finally tracked a new one down on ebay which still cost me over £30. I don't know of any other source apart from trawling the breakers.
Citroen list the C5II part as sensor 6590A5 at a whopping £74.26

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
Thanks Ken. £72.00 is a bit steep really; thanks for the part number though. I have seen different letters after the part number but I don't know what the difference is, even though the sensor itself looks the same.
Does anyone know of a decent supplier of a new part?

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
There's not a lot of difference between these ultrasonic sensors, so an aftermarket one might work perfectly well. I have one you can try if you like.

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
Thanks for your really kind offer but I have found that 6590CK looks the same but wears a different part number to 6590A5. Does anybody know the difference?

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
The difference may only be the physical appearance and connection type, eg the 6590A5 you require is listed as 'anodised'
According to Citroen Service the 6590CK sensor is used on a variety of models, 6 X C4 Picasso models, 2 X C5 models and 1 X C3 Picasso model.
Two equivalent sensors are actually listed for this C5 model mentioned above:
6590CK No paint (presumably self finish)
6590EF To be painted (presumably primed ready for matching to colour coded bumpers)

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
Well I bought a 6590CK, which fitted to the car perfectly and connected up fine.
Once hooked up to the Lexia, the faults were erased and a check of the sensors revealed no faults, Hooray - or so I thought.
The rear parking sensors now work fine. The front ones are not workng as well. Instead of getting several visual and audible warnings of increasing frequency, I am getting the 'you are about to hit something' maximum audible noise coupled with the green furthest away symbol on the colour sat nav RT3 screen. This only happens when the car is really close to something.
Any ideas? Lexia cannot identify any problem.

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
I'd try swapping the new sensor with a rear one, to see if the fault follows it.
It does sound a bit like an ECU problem, because of the discrepancy in indications.

Thanks so much. I did an ECU reset but the issue remains
Maybe the new sensor I have purchased possesses a glitch? Who knows...

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
Sorry for digging up such an old thread but I have exactely the same problem. Front, left, inner sensor faulty according to Lexia, changed it and the system works fine rear but ,as the thread starter above mentions, works very weird in front.
Citroen spare nr is the same: 6590A5 no matter of Bosch nr
Faulty sensor Bosch nr 0263003246
"New" sensor Bosch nr 9663649977
Anyone?
best regards
Abbe from Sweden
Edit* Oh, the thread wasn't that old...it was his join date!

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
Well I took out the 6590.CK and replaced it with a new 6590.A5 and... no difference
It all seems most odd to me. I'll drive the car for a bit to see if it sorts itself out.. unlikely!
Abbe, you have mixed up the bosch part number with the psa one in your thread above.

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
Hi everyone!
I have similar problem with my C5 FL (2005). After connected Lexia i found the not working front sensor. It was PSA 96 496141 77 (without XT!), 0 263 003246 (965). Other 3 sensors are the same. In rear i have the PSA 96 636 499 77XT, 0 263 003 246 (965). I bougth one used(....77XT), but after connecting it didnt work. I changed place of this sensor and the problem in Lexia also change. The wire instalation work properly - i think. Do i have to buy sensor without XT to solve the problem? Does anyone know what is the difference betwen this two models of sensor? Do i have to place sersors in correct places (eg. 2 of XT and 2 of 77)??
EDIT:
I bought new sensor yesterday and there is some new info. After connected, deleted faults by lexia system works properly but only rear. I have the same problem with front - it indicates only nearest distance. Now i dont have any idea how to correct this fault. Lexia shows everything fine. I think it can be something wrong with Bosch central.

Re: C5 II parking sensor supplier
Hello to everybody,
Did you solve problem with wrong reading from front sensors after replacement? I have exactly the same issue...
I replaced one of my original sensors (to be honest it was third of them) and now rear detection works, but navigation screen shows nothing in front or an obstacle in central section in the farthest (green) segment. What is most interesting, I replaced not front but rear sensor! I tried to swap some of them front to rear, left to right, but detection system always gives wrong information in front of the car...
Probably all or most of my original sensors have numbers PSA 96 496 141 77 / 0 263 003 246 (965). They are bloody expensive at Citroen, so last year I replaced them with what I found on internet auctions. One with PSA 96 638 215 77 / 6590.F4 (primed to be painted – notice different PSA number) and another with 6590.CK and everything worked just "out of the box". This time I made another "experiment" and tried to put PSA 96 638 215 77XT / 0 263 003 587 (965) in place of next worn-out one, but it did not work and Lexia showed "coherence error" on it. So... I replaced it again with 0 263 013 622 (965) (only Bosch number, delivered in Bosch carton box - some people say that it works with C5 II and it is designated as a direct 6590.A5 replacement), but result was as described at the beginning. No errors, but frontal and only frontal detection shows rubbish.
What can cause this strange problem? My car is a C5 II 2005 with RT3 unit.
