Respray still ongoing... meanwhile, various other parts being done. Won't be ready for the big Yorkshire bash but should be back on the road for the September rally.

The bit I'm worried about most is the moment it all has to be put back together again! And even then, whether stuff like the windows work - I already know the windscreen wiper doesn't function so hoping the motor can be repaired/easily replaced!

Fortunately I made a note of where all the bolts and screws go - but it's going to take some time to make sure it's all functional. Fortunately the engine and hydraulics are fine. So that's a relief... Can't help being apprehensive though!

What model year is that one? And what colour? I have done a similar renovation ( I don't do restorations  ) to my Prestige 2400i '81 Automatic.
My car was in UK until '89 and since then in Australia - that means less rust but more damage to the interior because of the glorious sunshine

I have 2 windscreen wiper motors that work but very slowly, took them to local auto sparks and he reckoned un-repairable, basicly burnt out. I need one for my Safari, so if you find a matching motor or supplier please let me know.

Your doing a cracking job, Putting them back together isn't to bad just very time consuming.

It's a an 1985 Series 1 2.5 Prestige in silver Kimmoh.

As for the windscreen wiper motor, it was removed, repaired and working perfectly! I reckon it was just seized due to the car being abandoned for so long :-)

MOT on Friday - the first since 2007! Fingers crossed....!

IF it passes the MOT, then there'll be a few short test runs next week. But the drive from its current location near Bristol to the CXM rally will be its first proper trip in five years!

So... a week of 'sea trials' first, so to speak. Seems in good health but you can never tell until you hit the open road!

Excellent work, a real inspiration. Wish I could spray paint like that.

Have to admit the paint job isn't showroom perfect but then I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I doubt it'll raise too many eyebrows. I hope!!!

Thanks everyone! Yeah Franklin, it's as ready as it'll ever be. All rust proofed and
wax oiled up! Running well and all systems fully checked over.

Thing is... It's not moved more than 20 feet since 2007.

My good mate and restoration partner in crime Chris will get the pleasure of driving it to the MOT station as I'll be at work. I hope he makes it!!!! I'll get my very first drive in it on Saturday morning, if it passes!

Worth mentioning Chris at this point. He's been the brawn behind most of the heavy work. One of my best mates, a car repair/welding genius and a fellow Citroen nut. Tremendous guy - only wish I could get him along to one of the events but he has three young children so has his hands full!

I'll let you know what happens Friday...!
