Yes, a 'known' car Mark.  It actually won the Eileen Sterns Award at the CXM and Xantia Rally last year - was in storage for many years I believe. Pictured here:

Tell me, in the photo of the dash what's the purpose of the two warning lights between the hazard triangle and the STOP light. I'm particularly intrigued by the one with a capacitor symbol on it and just as intrigued by the one next door that looks like a jar with a couple of pipes coming out of it..

I believe that the first one that you mention Jim is a warning light for the torque converter oil pressure, and the second is a warning light for the hydraulic system pressure. :)

Thanks Franklin :-D The torque converter one makes perfect sense. That's a C-Matic then I take it...

Am I allowed to say I detest the dash in these earlier CXs? They look like something a child in a tantrum has designed...

Meh, each to their own and all that! I personally love them especially with those mad rotating drums. 8-)

Nah, Athenas only got the 5 speed manual box. Fortunately never had the C-Matic. I always thought that symbol was a brake pad warning?

And a lovely car it is too.

I prefer the series 1 cars to the series 1 cars; both inside and out.

You've got a point there Robert - I got mixed up with Matt's Pallas that he had which was a C-Matic. Similar age, same colour and similar miles didn't help.

I've had a look in an owners manual and it says that it is a warning light for the torque converter oil pressure... Which is quite strange as it's a manual... :?

Must be a redundant warning light then.

I think they must have all used the same dash, and the lights just wired up as required.
Personally I love the MK1 dash, it is what makes a CX a CX

Thats a very nice CX. I had a brief look at it at last year's Startford rally. As Franklin said, it was in storage for a while in the Taunton area and I believe it was advertised on ebay not that long ago as well.

On the dash, the '75 Mouse Mobile has a full compliment of lights along the top, but few have anything printed circuit connected to them! I have a STOP light, but it doesn't light up and the lettering is not highlighted in white like this Athena. Saves on dash bulbs!
