Aircon filter, where is it?

Unread post by Ozzie Kuma »

Read all sorts of things on the site around this issue, but can't find the answer,.. the air in the car is not fresh, ( yes I have a busted heater matrix, it's been disconnected 8 years ) where is the aircon / in car air intake , filter / pollen filter on a V6?

Make a note of which way round it is (the slanted pointy end) so you don't have to stick your head under to look.

Also, it slides sideways to release, don't lever it off!

Jason has some of the Wesfil filters spare.

Beware!! Some have covers secured with four screws... I cannot recall id these are very early aircon cars or very late ones.. Fooled me the first time I saw it...

Jim, it was only on the earlier ones, later units were graced with one screw and the last lot did away with the screw completely. Not sure if this was an accounting measure to reduce costs or part of the fuel economy drive to reduce overall weight. :D

I guess all Xantias with AC have a pollen filter?

I need to take a look at mine and see what its like, dont usually get such a distinct smell of pollen when it has a filter ...

Though I dont get showered in leaves and dust when I turn on the blowers, so it must have one, unlike most XMs :?

thanks all, job DONE

Did the VSX too, Jim, screws on the VSX but no screws on the V6.

Is a new filter readily available ? very expensive?

The guy who sold me the car advertised it as " always garaged" & I believed it!! check out the photo.

That's actually pretty clean for an overdue filter change.
Cassy's was a year or so old and came out black!

New filters are around £7
