preheat circuit

Unread post by civvie »

But concerned about the preheat circuit on daughters diesel 1.5

Started to check the glow plugs today as it took a couple of winds to fire it up. Disconnected a lead off one of the heater plugs, got a voltmeter and connected one lead to earth of car and the other lead to the glow plug lead, although the ignition was off it was showing 10 volts, can't be right can it?
Am concerned the battery might be drained dry.

When I replaced the dip beam bulb I took the battery out, its not something stupid that its got to be reset by Renault is it.

Antz,

Bit confused about your reply, so what you say is when I replace the lead onto the heater plug although the circuit is now complete and 10 volts is passing through the plug it won't heat up even with the ignition off and key out and drain the battery? Ingenious these French.
