Espcace Diesel Head Gasket?

I have a 2.2 1998 Diesel Espace, and have been reliably informed thatt he headgasket has gone (air coming up into the header tank and will not run) Cant get anyone to take the job on and have been quoted stupid money by Renault. Anyone else had similiar and know of an answer apart from a big bonfire?
