Renault Clio 1.4 S maxim 1996 - misfire

Unread post by amjake »

Hi all,

have a hesitation on acceleration and on idle just slight rev up to about 1800 - 2000rpm you can see, hear misfire (lumpy/hesitation)

Done so far:

New plugs, leads, distibutor cap, rotor arm, temp sensor.

Tried coil, map/maf sensor.

Run thru fuel injector cleaner, vacuum tested etc.

Suspect renix unit (other part of coil) will also check TDC sensor.

All suggestions welcome.

Hi all,

here's update:

Renix unit and no difference

So now last thing bought Lamda sensor today for fitting during week at friendly garage due to possible removal and refit.

Hope its this otherwise the daughter buys a VW Beetle!

And finally.....

surfing and lo and behold the CTS comes up with a similar fault pattern (Coolant Temperature Sensor).

Previously had used a factors who supplied the CTS, which is in fact the Temperature guage sensor (brown oval, CTS white square)

Just replaced and revs drop to 800 when warm no misfire on accelaration, sweet joy!

The things us dads have to do for our daughters, no doubt forgotten in a day or two.

C'est la vie!

Glad you got it sorted 8-)

And you're right about daughters... kids in general even..they have no idea of the trouble us dads 'sort out' - " OMG,my life is in ruins, I neeeeed my car fixed NOW now now,to erm, well, shoe shop", (converse pumps are hot,apparently...) go do lurnch, etc  etc etc..lol.
And heaven forbid if it takes more than a a few hours to fix,(big job), " Use a bus? Are you serious?!!!"

When my boys get old enough,(they're nearly there), I'll make them do at least a bit of basic car diy,

...but daughters have their dads round their little fingers don't they...and tbh I think we quite like it that way
