The 305 vans

Unread post by pugbus »

:D though I'd add a couple of pics of friends 305 vans , both running 1.9TD's the maroon one we've picked up a 2.1td engine and thinking of fitting 1.9td head then bolt it to a HDi gearbox :D I was on the lookout for a 4x4 405/BX a few year ago as was thinking of building one 4x4 :)

A friend of my Dads has had a couple of these, the best workhorse he has ever owned, he says if he could buy one new today he would jump at the chance. He loves 'em!

Gosh :D They still look very smart and crisp even today. A van with style if ever there was one and with an XUD9 under the bonnet, just about perfect!

Like your idea of a 2.1td in a 4x4.

They did have XUD 9's in them. Unfortunally, though, the 305 range, cars included, never got the TD XUD unfortunally...

Ive always liked the 305 car too and wanted to do a XUD9 Te conversion, but cant find the cars anymore..

The spec of the maroon one from what I can remember is , lecy windows and PAS from a 305 GTX , half leather seats and alloys from 205 GTi , front vented disc's and callipers engine/box from 306 D Turbo , adjusted rear load sensor to give nice even braking , same spec we used to build them 20 years ago but with 1.7td's :) , pals just on collecting parts for 2.1td conversion with 1.9 cylinder head , just working out whats needed to do this :)

The White one again has 306 D Turbo engine and box with 305GTx wheels

I take it these will have the Lucas/Delphi? style pumps with fly-by wire :roll: Bosch conversions will be possible or more simple just the Lucas pump from 306D Turbo :)

I dont want to hijack your blog but its something we have talked about on here for a while now :)

People on the veg oil forum have managed to convert to the Bosch pump and get rid of the lucas unit so they can run veggie and tune it easier as well :)

In europe the activas came with the 2.1 as well as the v6, hdi and tct but over here we only got the one option :(

I really cannot understand why anyone of sane disposition would want rid of a nice Lucas pump :twisted:

<runs and hides...>

A Bosch VP20 onto a 2.1TD is indeed an easy swap... As long as you swap the HP pipes and injectors as well.

I know its a better pump Jim :)

Problem is that if you wish to tune it for power/torque/MPG or use Bio/Veg with it then the pump throws a right wobbler and hates you for the rest of its life :( I guess if they are easier to take apart then you could have a couple as spares and run the veg through it and then when it coughs it take it out and repair/rinse it and so on but why do that when you can use a bosch and know it will last for many miles without that kind of work :)

They were good enough for nissan/toyota to copy them and use them upto year 2001 IIRC in their diesels which says enough for me :D
