Air con leak???

Having been very pleased that my my air con was gassed and worked I thought i would test it today, and found it to be very lacklustre.
I noticed a small amount of bright green fluid leaking from the sensor on the drier bottle

Also inside the drier bottle (through the sight glass ) it was bubling green.

I guess this means a new drier and sensor are in order?
Luckily i think i saved a sensor from a peugeot 406 and it looks the same, anyone know for sure?
however ill have to hunt down a new drier

A well-gassed circuit doesn’t bubble.
Only at start-up can it have very small bubbles.
The sensor can be unscrewed, there’s a Schrader or whoever valve to keep the fluid in like a tyre valve.

The dryer is good if the sight glass at left is mostly dark, unlike mine in the picture, which is opaque from saturation with moisture.
A restricted dryer causes pressure build-up, and leakage at weak points.

The 406 sensor may be the same; the values aren’t critical, and are stamped on the metal.
The re-gasser should have known better,

so should hear from it.

on mine the sight glass (on the right over here!) is yellow so not very dark. Im going to see if i can get them to re do it and i have ordered a new drier so this time it should be good!

Bloody air con! Need to get it sorted for spanish weather!

Didnt realise the pressure sensor could come off without leaking either!

If you do need to get a new drier unit you can get them from eurocarparts I believe.

they turn up new on Ebay too, got Juliet one for £14

I assume you mean it's leaking from where the sensor is screwed onto the R/D. Just unscrew the sensor and replace the 'O'ring beneath it. The refrigerant will not escape as it's a shraeder valve beneath it. You will probably find the existing 'O'ring has been pinched.

If there is still pressure in the system, you are probably safe to just dump some more gas in there. If it's been "opened" for any reason, you will need to get the R/D changed

Cheers shane, your probably right, but i have got it booked in again at crap fit today and will see if i can get it done free as it was done 1 month ago, and i think the machine should have picked the leak up.

I have a new drier, as i think the old one is pretty old!

Got it done for free, and its now blowing properly cold!
Just replaced the drier and pressure sensor and all is now good.
For how long though remains to be seen!
