renault espace juddering!!!

hi,i have a renault espace 1999 2.0 petrol,and recently it started juddering when i put my foot to the floor (accelerator) its fine when idleing,i took it to the local mechanic and he said its most probably the flywheel sensor,does anyone know if thats a good prediction or not? any replies would be appreciated,andy
