Bloody hell Vince
I thought I could see a few tiny blemishes in your work and then realised they were marks on my computer screen...
Jodrell bank will be wanting you for polishing telescope mirros soon...
Excellent stuff! Shiniest Xantia in the world, possibly

Thanks for your kind words guys.....I know your all mainly into mechanical jobs, but fixing up exteriors on cars really feeds my soul...until the kids get in and smudge chocolate all over the seats or whack the door open into the concrete posts on the driveway
With the advent of machine polishing, repainting stonechips, and painting and fitting my new mirror cover caps (thanks Paul
) the car really has turned a big corner this weekend and is now finally looking more like how i want it to look. Its not perfect by any means but i feel its as good as i myself will ever get it
What has / is spurring me on is the CCC Northern Rally show next month. There is just no way that i would have had the motivation otherwise to find the bits ive needed and put in the work required to raise its game.
To celebrate the work done i took Linda and the kids on a 180 mile round trip today to Llandudno in it. The car drove impeccably there and back and again i had to comment to Linda (who couldnt care less) on how smooth the car is to drive...A good Xantia is very hard to beat
Happy trails folks

Well the glorious weather has allowed me to carry on my education with rotary polishers. Today using a scrap wing off a MK3 golf i learnt how to remove scratches through the method of wetsanding and then refinishing the paint....its surprising how easy it was to have a light scratch one minute and then within 5 minutes have a perfect gleaming panel again...with no scratch of course
I eventually ventured to the Xantia and polished out a scratch on the rear spoiler. It was only a light scratch, and came out with no problems whatsoever and now looks and feels perfect.
To see what a difference the machine was making i attempted the same task by hand. Using the same compound and polish i could not remove the flat sanded effect of the wet and dry.
I can see myself really getting into this machine polishing lark as its so handy for blemishes, newly painted areas, and scratch removal

Ok...the accessories are now fitted...and although perhaps a marmite moment? in my opinion look awesome.
The aim of this addition is to make people look differently at Xantias at the northern rally..... I've personally never seen a single Xantia "on whites" anywhere so it may be a first....? If so then you saw it here first
How it starts...

The key ingredient

One done

The end results...Note also the new mirror cover caps

And the home made LHM sticker in place

I actually really like the white walls
Certainly something different, looks great in the pictures.
Your Xantia is really looking better than new there, mirrors caps look much better too.

Im glad you like them...Im a big fan of whitewall tyres both narrow bands (like these) to full whitewalls.....have to be on the right cars though as they can look terrible on the wrong ones.
Im a big lowrider fan too.....they like whitewalls too

I think they really suit a dark colorized Xantia a treat Vince and very tasteful too.
Which is more than can be said for the hideous monstrosity above. Must have been produced during a stylists strike
What on earth is it? It is truly gruesome...
These yanks really ought to be made to sit and look at a Peugeot 406 Couple for a few days, just to give them a clue as to how to make a car look beautiful.....

Jim i cant believe im hearing this, some of the american muscle just look stunning, the Stingray? dodge charger? the english but americanised AC Cobra
and hard top low riders just look awesome.
And the white walls on your Xantia look strangely good Vince, i never thought white walls on a euro car would work but it does, and very well.
If your at the CXM thing i will keep an eye out for your Xantia Vince.
