What a sad loss for the Citroen community.

My sincere condolences are with his family and close friends.

I went to the aussie frogs link and read the post his son Adrian wrote, and felt his loss, i would hope and assume he will carry on his fathers work in the community in good time.

Sincerest Regards [-o< :-$ O:) 8-[ :!:   (you know where i'm going with that one)

Just read Adrian's post on Aussie frogs.
I've never had any contact with him but nevertheless, reading what Adrian said, he was a top chap. Typing away in the early hours of the morning helping people with their cars, top chap.

Goodbye Alan

Indeed a great character will be sorely missed about these parts.
As has already been said, a GREAT loss to the whole Citroen community
Alan has over the years been immeasurable help to us all and me personally!
All the very best to Alan's memory and his friends and family.

I've always had my spirits raised with:

I got to know Alan well through several epic telephone calls and imnunerable emails and PMs in the early days when I first joined Alan on the Admin team. Alan took me under his wing and tutoured me in the fine art of forum admin and he was very much my mentor. he became a very dear friend.

I was absolutely devastated when I heard the news yesterday lunchtime, to the extent that several people asked what on earth was the matter. The explanation was wholly inadequate for most as they just could not get their heads around how someone you know from an internet forum could have such a profound effect. Alan was like that, he left a deep and lasting impression on everyone he met, by whatever means, and touched their lives forever. One of those rare people who you have known forever despite just meeting them. The fact that we never met in person was irrelevant.

Alan set the tone and atmsphere of this forum and made it perhaps the friendliest meeting-place on the internet; something I'm determined to maintain in his memory.

This is and always will be Alan's forum. We who have come after him are mere custodians of this legacy he has left us.

Goodbye Alan, It was an honour and privilege to know you.

Anybody who has tried to find advice online for non-sporting cars will realise what an achievement this forum is.

Condolences to Alan's family.

There is a second thread running here.

Unfortunately, the forum software does not offer a thread merge facility so both threads will run side by side.

Tragic news, that I had feared for some time.

It was Alan’s kindness and helpfulness that made me stay with the various boards.
When I first read of all those cars with problems, I didn’t want to watch any forum any more, thinking that my car, that had nothing wrong with it, would become like that too.
It was Alan’s replies to my first posts that convinced me that we were in the very best of hands.

What I admired most was his fearlessness; such as hopping into automatic transmissions, that we were supposed to think were the preserve of secretive ‘specialists’.

He leaves an enormous legacy, that his family can be very proud of.

Rest in peace, Alan … heaven is the place made up of Citroëns. :)

It's amazing the kind of companionship you get with the fellow Citroen lovers.

I didn't knew Alan S but I'm aware that he was a nice guy that knew a lot of cars and liked helping people a lot.

May his soul rest in peace and the good Lord confort his family.
