LG Chem to foot 70% of the cost of the recall. Quite a high proportion for a company who claimed that Hyundai was to blame for the problem.![]()

To date, the German automaker has focused on issuing long-term battery supply contracts worth $48 billion with existing battery manufacturers. The contracts are estimated to be for about 300 GWh of battery cells.
VW split those billions worth of contracts between several companies: Samsung SDI, LG Chem , SK Innovation, and CATL. The company has also started to become increasingly involved in battery cell development and production in partnerships with companies like NorthVolt and QuantumScape.
VW CEO Herbert Diess also confirmed plans to build battery cells in Spain as part of the conversion of their Martorell factory:
Our plans are bold: Conversion of Martorell into a fully electric car plant, local cell production in Spain, build up of infrastructure for fast charging and green energy…
Only 3 works, and for some kind of commitment to doing it Stellantis will hold out for as much financial assistance as they can screw out of the threat of (2) to walk away completely.1. Continued production of internal combustion engine-powered cars - with the possible addition of the new hatchback model - for the short-term until the ban on sales of new petrol and diesel vehicles in 2030.
2. Making plans to wind down production at Ellesmere Port completely.
3. Securing the plant's long-term future by committing to making a new generation of electric cars in the North West.

The 2014 Version of the Vivaro was indeed a partnership of Renault/Nissan/Fiat/Vauxhall/Opel. The New Version is Based on a PSA EMP2 platform shared with the Dispatch and Peugeot Expert Vans.Gibbo2286 wrote: 13 Mar 2021, 15:36 I don't know about 'these days' Bobbins, when I was trading I used to buy used fleet vans direct from British Gas, mostly Ford Transits and LDVs.
The Vauxhalls listed in Neil's post are actually Renaults rebadged (Trafics and Masters) I don't know if they were ever built at Luton.
I don't think Stellantis are the future of the UK EV Manufacturing industry.Remember this is the Vivaro petrol and diesel version only.
