Infotainment system

Post by TallPaul73 »

Apologies if this has been asked before.
I have a 2017 DS5 that seems to have carplay and mirrorlink on it. I know mirrorlink is no longer supported and most cars now have android auto.
Has anyone found any adapter that can plug in that will connect to the mirrorlink and allow me to connect my Samsung S23ultra via android auto?
TIA

Ok, so at the end of the day, the Head Unit either will or will not support Android Auto. The software has to be built into the Head Unit.

According to Android, it was available on the DS5 from 2017. However your build date (RPO 14571) is 30th September 2016. So it may only have CarPlay and Mirrorlink.

As you've said Mirror link is dead now and Android Auto is a separate application that is generally built into the compatible smartphone.

As your vehicle is on the cusp of the changes, I can't be 100% it supports AA. I'm also aware of issues relating to the Samsung S23 ultra, some of which are detailed here:

There is no magic adaptor that can make it work as mirror link and AA are different programmes.

That won't work unless AA is there to start with

I think it should be the middle 'hard' button on the right side of the touchscreen. Make sure this is displayed then plug the phone in via USB and if AA is available it should show up.

CarPlay came out several years earlier, so maybe you only had this and Mirrorlink on this early Unit.

What version of Head Unit Firmware is installed?

I think you may have got it back to front.

There was version 7.3.1-r1 released in October 2016
The last version for this system is 7.3.1-r3 released Jan 2019.

So have another look to confirm, as you may have the penultimate release (r1) and who knows if they provided an update that may allow Android Auto.

Let me know.

Ok, that makes sense with the additional info from the screen. Basically you have the version of mapping and hardware that were applied at the factory when the car was built, hence the 'production' references. These versions were not publicly released as updates, which is why I queried it.

So if you provide your VIN (Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff) I should be able to provide you with the latest firmware update as you are 3 versions behind the last update there will be for this unit. There have also been 18 map updates since your version too.

Ok, so it's not immediately giving me the latest, so it may mean it requires this version to be uploaded first. Then wait for a while until the vehicle has been driven for a bit and the on-board WiFi has advised the PSA servers that you have updated to this version. Let me know and then I'll see if the server is releasing the last version.

You won't need a licence file as you have on-board WiFi.

Firmware V 7.3.1-r1
