My BX had mudflaps and I thought they looked the business. But more importantly, they honestly did heep the lower flanks of the car more muck-free, and since then I've wanted mudflaps on my subsequent cars.
I've had my high-mileage C5 Tourer for over a (so far) trouble-free year, so my lack of fettling has led me to think up other ways of doing something to the car, and I thought "Mudflaps. Why not?" Hence, here I am, fishing for opinions if you think it's worth it or if I'm a tasteless prat that should leave his car alone.
I've seen some cheap Chinese plastic ones on Aliexpress and other such sites, but I'm not convinced they're worth it. OEM ones are nigh-on impossible to come by in my part of Europe so I'm wondering if it's worth the bother at all.
Thanks in advance, everyone.

Personally, I think they're a good idea, and can look good.
They certainly protect the rear lower part of the wheel arch, and the sill front and underside, from wheel debris thrown off.
I had original Citroen ones on our XM, which were moulded and pretty much rigid, so didn't take kindly to coming off kerbs! The rear ones are still there and ok (after 22 years), but I've replaced the front ones with 'rubber' moulded ones, bought from Amazon...
If you look on Amazon, there are sets of four, some plain, some with Citroen logos. Not expensive.
Search "Citroen C5 mudflaps".
Mine came from Poland, sold by Amazon.
Worth checking the paint behind the flap, to prevent dampness/rust there.

I have original Citroen ones fitted and have done on all my C5s, as they do offer a lot of protection and are a custom fit.

Do you have the part numbers for those X7 mudflaps Marc? Are they different between saloon and estate?

The Fronts are the same for both Saloon and Tourer Paul, but the Rear Mud Flaps on the Tourer are different:
These are the Citroen Custom fit styled mudflaps for the X7:
940361 for Fronts
940362 for Rear (Saloon)
940363 for Rear (Tourer)

Ta!
Hmm, I wonder how and what the difference is between the rears for the saloon and tourer?

The fitting instructions are the same for rears on both Tourer & Saloons, as they reference both parts in the fitting guide, so I assume there must be something slightly different in the moulding to fit each variant...

Yes, I've seen that there's a difference between saloons and post-facelift Tourers. Thanks very mich for the feedback, as soon as I get the flaps I'll be sure to post what it was like to put them on here.

Are you going for the genuine ones?

Re: Mudflaps on a Citroen C5 Tourer - yay or nay?
Hi
I've just fitted front and rear mudflaps to my C5 X7
Not OEM but contoured fit from China and not expensive.
I have noticed a vast improvement in the reduction of side splash since fitting.
I would recommend fitting them with no hesitation
Regards
Steve

Hi there Steve,
I saw some Chinese ones myself, but reviews said they were hard plastic and would break if you hit a curb. That's why I've been searching for OEM ones.
The Chinese ones I saw were really inexpensive, under 15€ (some £13) on ALiexpress. Are these the ones you recommend? Thanks in advance

Mine were on the car when I got it at three years old. I assumed they were fitted at the factory.

Re: Mudflaps on a Citroen C5 Tourer - yay or nay?
If you're driving a steel sprung C5 X7 and you regularly load it up then you need to be carfeul of driving over rough ground as the mudflaps can very easily bottom-out. Ask me how I know I used to have some front mudflaps fitted (Genuine Citroen), but they didn't last very long and are probably still sitting by the side of the dirt track in Germany somewhere
Sadly no longer a C5 owner
