New

A forum for new members to introduce themselves to the rabble already onboard. Not compulsory!
Tell us a little about yourself, lie if you have to but keep it to just an introduction, not a car discussion.

New

Post by Lordh1978 »

Hi everyone, new to all of this. Been in motor trade for 25+ years and owned hundreds of cars, but have suddenly been hit with an interest in big old Citroën estates? Xantia was bought as a winter hack Oct last year for less than a meal out with the wife, but has been so good I'm gonna keep it and improve it. Bought XM Break recently so may need some help off some people on here, thanks in advance lol.

Hi, and welcome.
A good pair to look after, Xantia and XM, as they have quite a lot in common.
Both well supported by available documentation, if you need it, here and on sister site club-xm.co.uk.
Do post some photos and details of each when you can.
:)

Hi there, Xantia turned 166000 miles this morning on the way into work this morning and XM received its 1st mot for 10 years plus after being dry stored. Only 63000 miles, one keeper from new (company car then purchased by driver). XM pretty much original throughout, bonnet and roof lacquer gone but am unsure whether to paint and mint the car or put it down to patina? Any thoughts?

Nice bit of boot space there. Look after them.

Unlucky to have the XM lacquer gone after just 63k and 10 years in storage. Must have had a hefty dose of UV/sunlight at some point. Dark colours more susceptible. If the rest of the body is good, worth getting those areas repainted.

How is it mechanically? Everything working?

Everything seems to work fine except the blowers. Few bits needed like a windscreen trim, drops a bit overnight but no leaks and goes up straight away once started so not to worried. Anything I should be on the look out for?

If you need to gate any bits try looking up a forum member by the tag citroenxm. He knows his stuff, and he may have plenty of spares (although I know he was having a bit of a clear out).
