I remember now why I didn't post this up in my original post with all the parts as I didn't want to confuse the issue with additional looms :-D

I think I'll replicate the Citroen fitting instructions here for reference (there is only a visual guide - nothing else - as it may benefit Avi (or confuse him more)

Note: 9, 25, 28, 29 & 30 are for V6 Engines only that have the battery in the rear. I have included these for completeness only.

That's the paperwork I was going to look at when I got home, albeit in order with text ISTR. So I won't be able to add anything more I think.

Marc, thanx for the detailed info. unfortunately, I don't think that it's applicable for me. as far as I can see, the easiest solution for me is to install the Auto Hak kit and the Ryder Smart Logic unit.

These are just the instructions for the Citroen units Avi. I just posted hem up so you could see how their official unit is plumbed in. I’m sure you’ll fit your other unit ok.

Well, the plot thickens. after the quest for the connector, I've finally started to install & connect the Ryder Smart Logic, I've discovered today two things: first, there is some sort of "box" made of plastic, on the left hand side. my assumption that it's the "house" for the BSR, if installed. picture of it attached. the second thing that I've found, is another loom with a connector. my second assumption - I hope that Marc will check it - is that is the loom that connects to the BSR. as you can see, there is a thick white/pinkish wire that carries a steady +12V (even with the ignition off) that I guess is for the fridge. there are two other wrapped wires that I guess are the CANBUS that delivers the data to BSR, telling it which lamp to turn on.
In my case, it's no longer relevant, since I'm installing the Ryder, but I hope it might help someone in the future.

I am amazed that no one knows where the tow bar electrics connector is in the boot area of an X7. It is easily found in the lhs of the boot of our C5 ll(Revision) 2007 model. We have an amplifier in the right hand side of our saloon (called a sedan here). I have a genuine Citroen by pass module to plug into the socket when I find it. Surely Citroen didn’t expect one to engage in wiring gymnastics to plug in the genuine article!

The instructions are supplied with the Citroen electrical cables and the step by step instructions are available easily enough. The reason being is that there is a variation because the X7 is a completely different vehicle to the earlier MK I and MK II, and not a facelift. Plus some X7s have their battery in the boot not in the engine bay, and then there is a lot of other ECUs stored at the rear. But in this particular case, the OP is using a non Citroen kit.
