Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
This popped up on the Birmingham forum this morning and although I'm a Brummy I've never heard of them.

Not at all difficult. I'll leave it for someone else to answer though, too easy by half.
The album can be seen here behind a different artist, on the shelf behind. 2' 42"

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
What lengths will this man go to, to get a track from JE onto the box?
I'm sure the question was easy for you Steve and no doubt for Paul and many others. I had never heard of the album so had to research it to find the answer. I must admit though the DDG search was as simple as they can be and I had never heard of the artist either!!

Polly is obscure enough that there are few references to her and I was very surprised to see that a few years ago.
I'm sure there are clips of her in this thread but probably early in it's life.
She loves to send herself up.

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
This world moves in mysterious ways. When I went to bed last night it dawned upon me that we had completely missed St George's Day yesterday. How bad is that? So I played some proms music before I went to sleep to release my sadness. As a young boy scout with a booming voice I was called upon to recite the Scout Law and Promise at St George's Day parades in Watford Town Hall when the PA system broke down, which was a regular occurrence, so it has normally been a significant day for me. I realised it was not actually the saints day as such that we had missed but simply the fact that the pandemic has caused so many changes to our routine that we just didn't see April 23rd creeping up on us!!
So when I watched PJ Harvey's video my overiding reaction was "How opposite to the sort of thing I usually watch it was" and that lead me to thinking what track would I regard, in terms of its video production as well as the music, as a polar opposite to Steve's post? A track came into my mind immediately so here it is but while listening to it I read the comments and became aware that Jim Steinman, one of the greatest songwriters of our times died in the week aged 73. RIP Jim.

Possibly the most played track which was written and produced by Jim Steinman:

To complete my triple tribute to Jim Steinman here is another Meatloaf track which really shows what a great lyricist he was:

Just read the story of the "Bat out of Hell" album on wiki. One of "my" influential artists Todd Rundgren was also heavily involved and "Bat out of Hell" turned out to be probably his finest work as a producer, as well as his "motorcycle guitar solo" on the title track.

That is the quintessential Meatloaf track for me.mickthemaverick wrote: ↑24 Apr 2021, 09:26 To complete my triple tribute to Jim Steinman here is another Meatloaf track which really shows what a great lyricist he was:
As far as video production goes, Mylene Farmer is head and shoulders above the rest, especially considering when they were made.
She owns everything to do with her business so controls it at a very fine level. Some are very ambitious, like short films.
The 'Libertine' trilogy is a good example.
