I don't think that the council would be best pleased at me cutting their trees down to reduce to janitorial implements.
No, maybe not but Trigger would be proud of you

The slide/negative scanners were in today but look as though they only work with Windows/Macs.
Although if they work with a Mac they 'should' work with Linux.

This is not from Lidl or Aldi, but it could be a useful thing to buy (especially if the weather gets a bit too warm for comfort). I have got one of these, and my Mum reckons the one I gave her a few years ago was literally a life saver (as she has a heart condition), as it turned bad night (with no sleep) into tolerable ones (with some hours sleep).

From what it says I would think it uses a couple of ice blocks which you have to freeze first and then place in the cube and it passes the room air over them using the heat in the air to melt the ice pack and thus have a cooled exhaust. So it is a latent to kinetic converter rather than an exchanger!! Just my thoughts
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!
You can fill the removeable tanks to the red lines (but not above it), put them in the freezer until the water freezes, pop the caps back on, and then put them in the unit. However, even if you don't freeze the water they do take a couple of degrees of the temperature of the air that passes through the unit.
There is a water trough at the bottom of the unit that the tanks keep topped up. There is a 'filter' that then sits in this trough, wicking up the water (and providing a large surface area). As the water evaporates it cools the air down slightly, and the fan blows this cooled air out.
