406 Fuel capacity 70 litres plus ?

Post by joyful »

I have just bought a 2000 406 petrol estate. I ran pretty low on fuel and filled up, but was then surprised to manage to fill with 72.85 litres. The handbook suggests 70.
It's great to have a big tank, but I wonder of the pumps were not calibrated properly.
Do any other 406 owners get in excess of 70 ltres in their tanks?

Forecourt fuel pumps are calibrated on a reasonably regular basis, so I would guess that actually you had run it very very low indeed, and filled it right up the filler neck!

I can often get 65 litres in the 60 litre tank on my 306.

Think the 405 has 65litre. Get £56 worth in when I want to invest!!!

807 has an 80 litre tank but the gauge on mine must be on the pessimistic side because I only got 70 in after running it until well after the light came on.
Could always get a bit more in the Xantia than the tank capacity.

My 97 p reg 406 handbook says i've got a 75 litre tank - usually I just manage around 72 litres due to fuel froth..... but its a rare thing that I get to fill it right up!
