Re: On my walk.
So the window was left down intentionally with a view to reconnecting the battery properly? how's the interior cleaned up, have you given it a scrub?

Re: On my walk.
I gave the exterior a shampoo and vacuumed the interior, did the dash and interior trim with those trim wet wipe things and it looks pretty good.
When I connected the battery (£20 from the local breaker) everything came to life., the tailgate window opened and the headlamps came on.
It's fairly high spec, has ESP and cruise control.
Needs tyres, they're mostly at the limit although a couple would pass and as I said in a previous post the original spare has never been on.

Re: On my walk.
I wonder if a manual gearbox conversion might be possible or economic?

Re: On my walk.
I have considered it Jim but I doubt it's worth the effort, I did one on a Hillman Minx years ago (Smiths Easydrive) that was bad enough.
One thing I've noticed is how easy it is to get this auto box out compared to the manual box, looks a doddle.

That's a rarity in itself. Got to add another £200 to any asking price!

Re: On my walk.
Well, I did have to buy a replacement switch, but it did open before then (sometimes on its' own when a different door was opened or closed!).

No, I've been through the whole list of vehicles and part numbers none match, there are a couple of Vauxhalls with a look alike box but the ratios are different, the C5 2.2 HDI same year has a ZF box.

I noticed this one did something similar, the tailgate was open a touch, I opened one of the rear doors and the tailgate window popped open.

On my switch the wiring showed distinct signs of water damage (the insulation was OK, but the copper was blackened). When I replaced the switch (around £40 from Peugeot) the tailgate behaved properly.

Re: On my walk.
I found and bought a gearbox so now I'm committed (or ought to be ) to putting the car back in running order., box due to arrive Wednesday, second hand from a car with around the same mileage but claimed to be in good working order.
The mechanical stuff is pretty straightforward but I might need some help from you guys when it comes to 'Initialise the ECUs following the instructions on the diagnostic tool.' I've got the tool but never yet used it.
The whole project is a huge gamble but........................
