My Zoe was all alone on charge at Tesco yesterday, I've never seen more than three cars using the five chargers available yet we keep hearing "You have to queue." from the naysayers, sneaked a free charge again two fifteen minutes sessions.

Re: Electric Vehicles-Infrastructure
You get to know your own patch Gibbo and there are new installations going up as a matter of course all over the place. You can see from the app whether the chargers are in use or not and if the Tesco ones were all in use we would have used Northumberlandia/Stannington/Cramlington/Bedlington/Ponteland/Morpeth/Ashington/Gosforth etc etcGibbo2286 wrote: 27 Apr 2023, 09:21 My Zoe was all alone on charge at Tesco yesterday, I've never seen more than three cars using the five chargers available yet we keep hearing "You have to queue." from the naysayers, sneaked a free charge again two fifteen minutes sessions.
One of the last totally free pod-points not just the 15 minutes, is at Sainsbury in Heaton, so had a free drink there yesterday.

Re: Electric Vehicles-Infrastructure
I doubt that they are free but I have noticed that there is rarely anyone at my local Lidl charge points and the Aldi ones in Wrekenton always have ICE cars occupying the charging stations.

Re: Electric Vehicles-Infrastructure
The Lidl Pod-Point rapids used to be the cheapest On the Road rapid chargers for a while, and became our go to chargers. Now they have put the price up to 65p/kWh they are at the same level as the Northumberland CC ones so since the price rise never had the incentive to use the Lidl ones again, and they have lost my Greek style yoghurt buying business as a result.myglaren wrote: 27 Apr 2023, 10:19 I doubt that they are free but I have noticed that there is rarely anyone at my local Lidl charge points and the Aldi ones in Wrekenton always have ICE cars occupying the charging stations.

Re: Electric Vehicles-Infrastructure
When my youngest son comes around he always goes through all the cupboards and the fridge to see what is in there and is quite snarky about all the Lidl Greek yoghurt.
The stuff from Aldi is just as good.
Spellchecker wanted to lose the 'h' from yoghurt. Presuming it is American then I'm surprised they didn't want to ditch the 'u' too.

We have a small Co-op here in the village, used to be a Vauxhall agent and petrol station, they have just one Pod-point charger which according to the app is still free, problem is it's always occupied, usually by the same black 4x4.

Re: Electric Vehicles-Infrastructure
Went to Concord to a pharmacy. Waste of time as they were moving and the shelves were bare.
Amusingly, there is a petrol station opposite (that caught fire a couple of months ago when some nitwits left their motorbike engine running while they filled up, dropped the bike and caused a conflagration.
Today there were a dozen Amazon vans trying to get in to fill up and had the traffic stopped for miles.
On my way back to the car saw this.
Wasn't there when I last visited, about a year ago.

Re: Electric Vehicles-Infrastructure
Thruxton Race Circuit, home of many petrol heads have installed an EV chargepoint in the paddock car park. Unsurprisongly it was vacant every time I passed it but if I'm right it would appear to be a cheap charger?:

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

The ripped signage is a pointer. Old prices. GeniePoint recently notified of increase in prices. Those ones on the Geniepoint website are at 88p/kWh, with both currently reported as "emergency stop pressed".
Genie Point have entered my category of "ridiculous rip-off never use"

Re: Electric Vehicles-Infrastructure
One way of charging up, completely unnecessary as it turns out, couple of nearby public chargers. I suspect this is a holiday cottage and a bit of a freebie being extracted.

Re: Electric Vehicles-Infrastructure
Not often that a Toyota Hybrid takes centre stage, but one has recently done 1200 continuous miles (could have done more, only paused to change drivers) on electric power only, using wireless charging.
