The latest Range Rover looks a bit cheesy but is a fantastically capable vehicle and lovely to drive. It's still a proper off - road tool.

The best looking Rangie IMO was the mid-90s P38 Model.

Despite being somewhat basic, there was something rather elegant and stylish about early Range Rovers, all down to David Bache...

His portfolio includes some of my own personal favourites like this one in "Tobacco Leaf" (thinking again it maybe its a bit light for tobacco leaf...may be almond) the only beige to be seen in!





According to Wiki, a difference of opinion over the about to be launched Maestro was the final straw before he was forced to resign from BL.

I prefer the original....

I have a special soft spot for the A30/A35.. It's the first vehicle I have a conscious memory of as a youngster. My dad had an A35 Van when I was born and he had it until I was about 3... Then he went to an Austin A40 Farina..

Had three (but not all at once): '66 Zircon Blue 2000, '72 Cameron (British Racing) Green 2000TC, and finally a '75 Lunar Grey 3500S.
The last was easily the best, especially after the SD1 5-speed box was fitted. Sh*t 'n' sh*v*els 'n' all that... Whooooosh.

Ah, the P6...

The car which I keep coming back to when having the thought of "should I just sell off the fleet of cars I have now and concentrate on just the one?" over and over again. Never had a car with a V-anything engine, never mind a V8. Not that I'd complain at a 1st or 2nd generation Range Rover either - but they just go for silly money.

We had one at the garage a few years back on an E plate that unknown to me someone had stuck a straight pipe on save for a cherry bomb box at the back - and the rear glass didn't latch properly. So first time I pulled enthusiastically away from a junction the rear glass popped open and suddenly I was presented with an exhaust note that was doing a very, very passable impression of a 1960s era Ferrari. Suffice to say, I never bothered closing the tailgate, and found an excuse to take the reeeeally long way back. Strangely the fuel economy really suffered on that run for some reason...have no idea why. Was really quite quiet actually lower down - but as soon as you hit 3200 rpm...heh...then it was *very much* less quiet...

Despite it being a right old basket case with an intergalactic mileage, they still got £1250 for it. My usual market back then was £200 or less...Like the £120 Renault 11TC I got from them that came in as a trade in about that time. Liked that car.

The badge on the boot is very probably something like this

Carrozzeria Touring designed and built these aluminum bodied two-door versions, which can be easily distinguished by their four round headlights (rather than two on Pininfarina Flaminias), and a shorter cabin - the wheelbase was decreased significantly for the GT and Convertibile, allowing for only two seats to be mounted. The GT was a coupé, while the Convertibile was obviously a cabriolet version

Hmm, wrong again. I thought it looked like an Aston Martin Superleggera.
I knew someone who had one but this was in the early sixties, haven't seen one since.

...makes it more challenging! The lancia is a prime example

The double headights of the Lancia Flaminia like the one I think Sticky has posted up, and the front grille looks like this



Now that could be a dead ringer for the car in your grainy picture, but not a nailed on certainty. If it was, then you have captured one of those "what are the chances of that happening" moments

and how many Lancia Flaminia Cabriolets on the road in the UK....I'll find out in a minute but I suspect single figures.
