Thanks Michel but a grand is beyond her budget, and she's been 'raised' on diesels, so much as there 'd be some sense in reverting to petrol; I feel there's a strong likelihood that she'd manage to mis-fuel it.... even though I understand that the hole for the filler on a petrol is narrower. The Caddy's is water cooled! No idea about the Clio, but that's what I was told by someone who'd just had to buy one.

I might be mad but the guy just asked if I would still pay £150 for it and I said yes.

He's going to pop it on his trailer and bring it round over the weekend.

I doubt it will be much of a project Jim, a steal the useful bits off and weigh in the rest probably, haven't the patience to fix it up nowadays.
Of course if anyone else would like the challenge you know where it is. :)

Thanks, time to study form now, sad to see a car like this being stripped but I don't think it can be a viable fixer upper.

As much as I hate to do it it looks as though I'm going to have to break this car and sell the bits. :(

The missing transmission is specific to this model only and nobody has one on offer anywhere I can find, used or even faulty.

It's an Aisin Warner 6 speed with serial number 20 GK01 0036181 Citroen part number new 2222.ZS, or exchange part 2232.K5, if anyone can point me to one that's affordable I might save the car yet.

I've popped a battery on it and everything that can be tested works, can't start it because the starter motor needs the bell housing to bolt to.

Mileage is 70106 so the engine should be good, hardly run in on one of these.
