Re: Davie's french attraction.
so thats like 145mph then! This car can fairly bring out the hooligan in me. I was coming home from asda today theres a few roundabouts in quick succession with alternating overtaking lanes. Rev counter red in 2nd, 3rd, and nearly 4th passing 2 lorries with 3 cars between them who were happy doing 40. When I came out of Asda, parked a few cars away from me was my old C5. That's the first time I've seen it for nearly 3 years! I'm pleased to say it's still looking well, no rust, dents or bashes that I could see. I know the guy who bought it had a bit of bother with it after a year or so, but surely has got it sorted out.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I'm sure you're right about top speed. I've often meant to note the speed at red line in each gear, but seem to be too busy when it happens! I don't know about you, but at that stage it's going up so quickly, that I almost always go onto the limiter as well! Oh well!
Nice to see your old car going strong still. I saw that my old VTS which was written off got rebuilt, I saw it for sale on fleebay almost fully repaired. Don't know if it's on the road or not though.

Perhaps a little, but not that much. This C4 is so much better all round IMO that it counteracts it!daviemck2006 wrote:Do you not miss this on the new one? I didn't like it so much when I drove one.
I must admit that I don't drive it on the limit that much so not a biggie for me...

TBH I'm actually more of a hypermiler usually, but the vts can bring out the young boy racer in me. It did today!!!!! Sometimes I need to remember I'm fast approaching 50 (thats years old not miles per hour) It must be because I'm now single again.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
I put the car on ramps today, it was actually dry here, to have a proper look at the exhaust. The whole thing actually looks solid, except for the joint between the middle section and the back section. It's only about 30mm or so in front of the back box. It's broken all the way round, where the clamp goes round the joint. Somebody has been there before, there's exhaust paste all the way round it which is breaking away. Definitely needs a middle section, that's £175 fitted. There's now some more paste around it, I would manage a new middle section this month, but I'll make it last another month until I can afford the full stainless.
I also put in new sidelight and numberplate bulbs, 8led ones. I really hated how the sidelights were so yellow looking against the xenons, they look a lot whiter now. Can also see the numberplate lights now, not really because of the led's, but because the light lens was so filthy, outside and in that there's no way the light was getting through.

I tried gun gum on mine a few times, but it never lasted, I think because the weather was so cold that it didn't set before I used it.daviemck2006 wrote:I put the car on ramps today, it was actually dry here, to have a proper look at the exhaust. I agree about the sidelights & have put LEDs instead, I haven't noticed the number plate lights really. I imagine the pictures will be posted soon!

Re: Davie's french attraction.
There's a problem with pics just now, she who left last week pinched the bl00dy camera
My phone is only a basic old nokia and doesn't take good pics. Theres a few things on the shopping list, exhaust, camera, microwave, iron, etc etc. I managed to keep the important things, C4, TV, home cinema, sofa, bed. Just really need the exhaust and I'm sorted

Re: Davie's french attraction.
Asda might still be doing a Fulifilm camera for £100. IIRC it has 12mega pixel. Next time I'm there I'll get more info if you want it.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
A camera will have to be bought soon, I don't really take a lot of photos so cheap will be fine. I suppose £100 is a cheap one nowadays, as long as I can point and take, then take memory card out into laptop it will do. The sky could be the limit on photography gear I would think.

Re: Davie's french attraction.
You can get a good camera for a lot less. It depends on what you need.

My son and new daughter-in-law bought a cracking Nikon bridge camera from Argos recently, just over £100.
