Lovely - and 150 miles of real world range without putting any batteries in the boot is impressive for a conversion. Batteries only under the bonnet above the motor and in place of the fuel tank under the rear seat - full original boot space retained.

Those of you who have read some of my "John" blogs might have twigged that JD works for a major house builder here in Scotland. We were discussing EV's just this weekend. His firm builds in the basics for EV charging in all their new homes. The firm is talking about getting deals for its employees on new EVs and is installing 10 new fast charge points at its head office. JD and I came to the conclusion that he needs to get an EV that can be used to power the home circuits. That way he can charge his company sponsored EV at his company sponsored charging point and come home and run his house for peanuts! You need a very long EV charging cable tae sup wi' a Fifer!

Over in the US it is one of the selling points for the Ford F150 Lightning, on the back of a nice bit of fear of black outs, which have been severe in some areas, and well publicised in the US. The the F150 is claimed to be able to power your home for up to 4 days!

Whilst sitting confined to bed recovering from a crazy viral infection 6 weeks ago. I've been looking at various YouTube channels. Eg Sandy Monroe, I presume of the Monroe comfort spheres? A very knowledgeable engineer who has worked with all the major car companies. He has sparked my interest in Aptera and Archimoto. And in this video
if you ignore the annoying interviewer, has some really interesting things to say about Teslas competition and why they are no where near Tesla in so many ways, motors, cabling, bearings, efficiency. Enjoy.

Lob up any updates on your tesla experience. Running costs as expected? I was a touch sarcastic about the autopark here and its switching to the visual camera system to allow autopark to park in the lines when there aren't any cars side by side for the ultrasonic sensors to carry out this marvellous function.

Sorry about the dupe post and the annoying presenter.. I just thought the information that Sandy presented was too.interesting not to pass on.. he's a very interesting person.

I've managed less than 2000 miles this year Neil.
Been up.in Shetland since February apart from a week here or there looking after mum till she died in May and then this supposedly dormant, innocuous virus being attacked by my immune system for some reason. I.might make it home in September..but I won't be driving for a while as this has completelywiped me out.
One thing I will say about the M3 is that the 4 wheel drive, which is 2 wheel drive till the fronts are needed is amazing in snow with snow tyres. The fronts have a tiny slip.abd then the drive kicks in.. I've never driven such a sure footed car.. the Xantia was good but the rear would step out and be pulled back by the fronts....the only problem I can see with the M3 is going to be the depth of the snow. But I was driving in drifting and new snow deeper than the front splitter without any problems at all.
As for running costs..this year including insurance, payments, accessories etc. 3.1 pence per mile. If you only include energy, a lot of mine is PV but still superchargers away from home, 2.1p.p.mile.

For the 11th Month in a row the best selling EV In China is...SAIC-GM’s Wuling Hongguang Mini EV.
The small electric car is available at prices starting at 28,800 yuan, the equivalent of less than 3,800 euros.

So when is that sort of disruption going to come to Europe. There is no doubt that were a similar EV offer available in the UK/Europe the pace of change of electrification would take off from its affluent-led slumbering snail's pace.

Look at our former backbone of Britain Ford, with the ever so popular Spanish Fiesta the former habitual UK best seller. What is their current electric offering in the UK Market

No, not the non-existent Fiesta-e 100% BEV, which at the right price would most likely regain a best seller tag, but the Ford Mustang Mach-e for the affluent buyer.

It is more than the right time, for the A and B and C segments of the EV market to be flooded with new offerings creating competition, and targeted incentives to encourage production/sales in that sector. Also important is that a focus on this sector creates the important supply of used vehicles spreading the take up to a greater number of people 3 or 4 years hence.

B-segment / Supermini / Subcompact
C-segment / Small family / Compact

The D,E,F, affluent sector populated by the more affluent buyer, is more than well catered for, and has little effect on a mass electrification of personal transport.
