It's made from them, like whale oil is from whales.

So, the production line is in fact hundreds of teenagers squeezing spots then Adam?

Lovely...

It could be worse. It could be thousands of obese teenagers having liposuction (as well as popping zits!)!

Typically brilliant Atkinson.. Excellent!

I see a thin end of a wedge on Youtube - no longer able to skip adverts. Bastards... I'm hating them now.

There's a bunch of greasemonkey scripts over at userscripts.org that get around the YouTube ads :) (compatible with Chrome and Firefox :) )

What adverts Jim?

and no, I don't have greasemonkey installed and do watch a disproportionate amount of YouTube.
While not pertinent to this thread I am going to post something here that has rather astounded me.
I first was directed to it after watching the Pie Jesu clip with Hayley Westenra that I posted a while back (Kiwi accent). I like that song and have seen/heard it by numerous singers but none as good as this one.
I won't post that clip as there is a lot of lead-in and lead-out crap but a couple of others that are quite representative.

While you may not actually like the material I don't doubt you will agree that the performer is very special.

This has an unavoidable lead in but not too long:

An Hayley Westenra song that is done better here.

A Sarah McCalchlan song done better than Sarah's original.

And one from The House Of Flying Daggers:

There are many accusations of her lip-synching but they are unfounded, she is too good for that and has proven it repeatedly.
I love the way that when her performance is over she reverts to being a well behaved and happy little girl.

Maybe they spare you the horrors as a regular user Steve. I'm not. Only very occasionally...

Interesting videos Steve :)

I saw another disturbing tend last evening that really annoyed me. Fried with a Windows PC got some nasty malware in her Internet Exploder that made her PC run like a dog and so slowly it's almost unusable..

The only guide I could find to remove the malware was in the form of a youtube video  The PC was too sick to play it and besides, I want it written down in steps, not a sodding video. That's just lazy..

The PC in question is going to be rebuilt - I'm suggesting Linux for her as she does have a habit of doing silly things on a PC...

Try Linux Mint Olivia/Cinnamon on it Jim - it is much more like Windows than Ubuntu, just as easy to install and use if you burn the disk or dongle on an Ubuntu machine.
The Register on Olivia.

As long as it isn't one of the affected Samsung laptops, they haven't come up with an effective fix for that yet.
That girl ^ was 11/12 when she recorded those clips, 13 now (only just) has four platinum CDs out and one home-made one withdrawn as it isn't representative, made when she was eight for her family. £800 on Amazon at the minute

As the 4th of July is imminent, this might be appropriate (she's singing for the celebrations anyway)

Pity about the audience.

I think the ads reduce if you're signed in, but they are certainly still there.

Yeah they are, I've heard of her before too... pretty sure she did a duet with Hayley but can't find it, so maybe I'm dreaming it. Hayley's "little sister" Sophie is pretty good too.

Disturbing trend? Malware and IE have came into the same sentence for over 10 years :D

Haven't had to recover PCs from malware for ages, but generally would use HiJackThis is safe mode to get rid of anything I don't recognise or looks suspect on startup (and that's been attached to explorer), there's also a trial program that I use to find stuff that's been properly hidden from the OS, then use other tools afterwards like spybot to mop up.

Windows itself is rather a disturbing trend as far as I'm concerned... Quite why anyone wants the sheer and unadulterated aggro of it and all the malware and viruses along with general Microsoft pedantry when they could have a simple, safe, easy and high-performance Linux desktop is totally and utterly beyond me..

I know my aggro threshold is incredibly low these days but if Windows was the only choice then I'd not bother to have a PC...

I leave Windows at work - the place I'm well paid for all the grief, blood, sweat, tears and aggro that goes with it. I'm not paid to use my PC at home...

I have a deep feeling of ambivalence towards Bill Gates. One part of me would like to see him strung up by his balls and a second part of me thanks him from the bottom of my heart for giving and keeping me in a job...

And I've never forgiven him for for not providing Windows with the following commands: grep, awk, head, find and tail to mention just a few...

And why the heck doesn’t ls -l work from a command prompt

And yet most botnets are run using compromised linux boxes ;)
If securing a computer is too hard for most people, or they are given the wrong impression that they are protected out of the box, then you have something far less secure than Windows which lets face it, is dead easy to apply hotfixes for and secure against malware.

Microsoft were in a catch 22 situation with many features they left to 3rd party providers. Just look at the additional hassle we have thanks to the EU wanting more money, sorry, objecting to Internet Explorer coming with Windows (yet it's fine for Mac and Linux to come with a built in browser and not advertise others).
So we're lumbered with that annoying "Hey, there's other browsers, you're in a corporate environment so you're either going to stick with IE or you know about the other browsers anyway, but we've got to still get you to click close and remember to delete the shortcut from the desktop otherwise we'll tell you about other browsers again and again"
Fine, do it for the home basic version but not premium or professional.
ls -l doesn't work in Windows for the same reason DIR doesn't work in Linux, you've not set the alias up properly ;)

I'll have to bring the Pi over to show you somewhen Jim.
