My Xantia has had all the major big jobs done and lots of little ones beside this last year - water pump, cambelt, crankshaft/camshaft/cam cover seals, oil breather hoses, radiator, radiator hoses, clutch, front and rear pads and discs, all fluids, number plates, ABS sensor, drop links and track rod ends. So to start off the new year it's treated to a chunky stone to the windscreen which within a couple of hours turned into a crack!

National Windscreens are fitting a replacement for £123 inc VAT and fitting which I thought was pretty good. Autoglass wanted around £360 and Phoenix £150. For that price I shan't go through insurance as its not much more than my excess and saves the faff of next years insurance company using it as an excuse to hike my premium.

I've got a replacement scuttle for them to put on as the one on there is cracked, still the windscreen sealant I put on there a few years ago to patch it up held on admirably!

The XM needs its injection pump resealing over the winter period, I tried replacing just the top two electrovalve seals but its still dripping. The wires look in okayish condition. I'll have to be careful when removing the electronic gubbins that I don't move them around too much.

I went there once on the way to the G rally for fish and chips. I bit into the battered fish and crunched into a bone, thought I was just a bit unlucky so pulled it out and put it to once side. Took another bite, another bone, another bone...the fish was still complete with skeleton!

I was sitting outside on one of the benches so nipped back inside and asked if the fish should be boneless "Yes we try but can't guarantee it" I showed her the fish with all the bones and tried to appeal to her but she was having none of it. I was really surprised as they're not exactly a spit and sawdust local takeaway!

I won't be choosing to go there again.
