If I need to go on a long journey I'm far happier driving in the very early morning... Before now I've set off at 2AM on a trip...

But then again, I suppose by some definitions that's travelling through the night ;)

Somebody was a silly billy last evening... That must have put a bit of a dampener on their Christmas

I saw this close to home during my run this morning...
I think I've flooded it dear...
I think I've flooded it dear...
The daftness of it was there was a 'Road Closed' sign in place and mere yards away was a dry and passable road that would have taken this motorist to the same destination...

We locals know this road well as it runs along the riverbank and flood plain...

I was working in Gloucester today. I saw quite a few temporary lakes on the way there and back, as well as a couple of rivers that had expanded their horizons somewhat. I would not want to be in the Tewksbury area for a while.

British Car auctions in Tewkesbury closed some years ago because their car park with all the sales cars was submerged in one of the regular floods there, all the cars were completely under water.

When I had my CX's I cockily drove through some deep water on high suspension - a couple of weeks later the o/s rear wheel bearing failed. When the suspension is on high the suspension arm is a very steep angle, and it the water goes over the top it fills the arm up, the bearing sits at the bottom - with no drain hole.

Well, 4900 takes me well and truly into American muscle car territory for a celebratory car but I've found something with an interesting tag for most of us:

Heroes of Telemark has just finished. On a previous airing I picked out this little pic
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 28 Dec 2017, 19:23 Heroes of Telemark was on again today.....so here's a bit of trivia

IMCDB Identifies this as a 1932 Ford V-8 and the interesting bit...it has a wood gas generator fitted.

...and a bit more reading around including a Scottish Connection.
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 29 Dec 2017, 06:28 Following on from the screening of "Heroes of Telemark" yesterday there is plenty of reading around the subject, including the Scottish Connection with the training sites in the Cairngorms, and the ill fated glider missions departing from Wick.
