The famous Paggers Christmas tree at 04:10 this morning :D
Magical...
Magical...
Not captured in this still but the lights cycle through many colours and patterns over the space of a few minutes... I deliberately paused my run to enjoy the show

It made me smile and put a spring in my step despite the cold and mist :D

Not your normal picture of the Lake District, but a view of Booths in Keswick. Very nice place for a supermarket picnic.

They are a firm based mainly in Cumbria, Lancashire and North Yorkshire but thumbing through the pages of the FCF today, I noticed in this post that in the video link Booths had opened their first outlet in the South.

Good for Booths, wish them every success with it.....part of the offering at Braintree's newest fuel station :-D

I always associate the name Booths with a scrapyard specialising in time-expired railway locomotives... They must have diversified!

That's a lovely looking building in the photo :)

I went for a very cold and surprisingly wet bike ride today...

I captured this rather beautiful church on camera :D

The number on the Steam loco 42696, which was at the time of your congratulating Mick on his 4,600 th post, your accumulated post total on the FCF. So I did think about posting it up to mark that random number at the time.
The caption on the photo was "4MT 2-6-4T 42696 unwanted at rear of depot"

It met its demise at Central Wagon Co., Ince, Wigan.

Thought it was a bit of a melancholic photo to post up as a celebratory acknowledgement of you predigious posting total, so didnt bother :-D

Regards Neil.

melancholic indeed Neil.. I agree... Seeing fine locos like this waiting for the gas axe is a very sad sight indeed

I don't believe it survived into preservation...

The number on that 4MT is not far off my current post count!

Driving home this afternoon I had to stop and get a quick shot of the local Christmas lights display:

Spotted this heron guarding his territory near the Teardrop Lakes in Milton Keynes today...

Not more than swallow's flight from the MK Girl Guiding centre called Heron's Lodge :)

Not a good photo as I had to zoom a long way in to get him..
Oi! get off my weir!

I expect I'll see him again on Saturday as I'll be marshalling the MK Winter Half Marathon nearby...

Ages ago I discovered that a few lonely low pressure (yellow) sodium streetlights had been left behind when Paggers was wholesale upgraded to LED a couple of years ago...

I wondered why some had been missed...

This is a good example:
Lone sodium on Flora Thompson Drive
Lone sodium on Flora Thompson Drive
I've now found out why it was not upgraded at the time... A very dense hedge made access to the control gear behind the access panel in the lamp standard impossible.

The hedge has now been cut back exposing the access panel... It appears there was a lot of ivy wound around the standard too..
Hedge no more...
Hedge no more...
I'm now wondering how much longer it survives before being upgraded to LED... I'm not hedging my bets ;)

Will this be an example of a streetlight being upgraded due to cutbacks ? :-D
