R5 91! well spotted i had to think about that for a moment then.

Took the gtt for test today, failed on snapped coil spring o/s front, half a coil missing at top. Wouldn't have had this problem on an xantia for sure

Mot tester did say what a minter like, underneath is in a1 nick.

looks good, nice oil pressure as well for the engine from cold :)

Whats that thing to the drivers side of the engine bay that goes to the carb? cant remember myslef but think it was something to do with avoiding fuel vapourisation on hot engines??

On the Maestro the same thing is called a Carb Cooling Fan, on the R5 that called it an Anti-Perculation Fan or Perc Fan for short...

Aye its the anti-perc fan. Stops fuel from evaporating out of teh carb when hot, makes hot starting faster. A bit of a bodge by renault, works ok though..

Had the gtt on the rolling road last week, pulled 138hp/142lb torque.

Was going to take the van to the rolling road aswell but the clutch failed whilst setting the boost/fuelling up last friday night, refuses to go into gear when running. With the cam fitted its certainly interesting starting it up in gear, kangaroo's liuke a learner driver

Looking good :D That's pretty good power and torque :D Well done!

I was honoured to see at close quarters a very nice white R5GTT in Slough the other weekend. I believe you may know of the one I mean. The instrument pod on that one is something else :D

Marc's new gtt? Going to be a weapon when finished.

His old gtt was canny quick, i had a few passenger laps last year at mallory.

Had to crack the spanners out on my gtt this week, the turbo decided enough was enough & started smoking on idle. I suspect a dodgy rebuild/tolerances as no play in the shaft but the oil seal has failed :?

Also had to change a trackrod end, drives nice again though so pleased. Shame the weather is too poor most of the time to have a decent ride out, roll on next summer!

Destroyed the clutch on the van a while back so has been sat in the lockup.

Work commences this week to get it back on the road. Next years goal is 12 sec qtr so have started gathering the relevant parts to make the most out of the current setup..

Ap 4 paddle clutch

My Maestro has a 4 paddle clutch similar to that, but its coming out next year as its such a pain to drive in any traffic and takes the fun out of just 'driving' its. Great for drag strip work as you can get an amazing launch with it, but it you do any significant road driving i would advise against unless there is no alternative.

Pulled engine out of the van tonight, found the problem. I can only assume a few hard launches at the pod & epic wheelspin in 2nd gear when setting it up made it fail?

Spring was pointing out sideways on removal aswell thats how it came out. Made no noise when running!

Impressive - at least you didn't have to look too far for the fault!
