Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
Sorry to necro this thread.
Can someone tell me why I can't see the images that vborovic added to his posts? Thank you!
I am really interested in doing this, and this forum is the only place where I found any information about the interior/dash "underglow".

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
Unfortunately, he deleted a lot of his images before he left. We restored many of the images, but some may not be available.
I am going through this thread again now to see if there are any images I can restore, but if you have a specific post where they are missing, please link it here and I will take a look.
Edit: I have found quite a few images and have restored these. It will take me some time to go through 37 pages, but Ihave managed to get most of them back so far. Check back later when I have finished.

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
Didn't wanna open a new thread so I thought I'd ask here, the door pocket lights, when do they come on? Does the car have to be running? Mine don't seem to work. Doubt it's the lights, maybe the sensor is not registering the hand inside the pocket? Not a big issue anyway, just thinking what's up with it.

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
The side pocket lights come on when the hand is detected putting something in. They work at night when the main lights are on.
You need to check whether it is configured in the instrument panel display - I think it may be under the Comfort settings menu. When the car is idling, press the left steering wheel scroll button down to access the menu and the wheel to move around. Press the scroll wheel to activate deactivate an option. It may be under Welcome Lighting.

Has anyone used T10 LED COBs (not SMDs) as side lights? Thinking of switching mine since the regular ones are yellowish and kinda stand out.

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
Not cobs and not an X7 but I had LEDs in the sidelight sockets on my last C5.
The tungsten bulbs were only lasting a few weeks so stuck LEDs in. They were blue and rubbish but passed the MOTs.
Sidelights never used in their own so in practical terms the blue rubbish light didn't matter.

These are white, I think they'd go nice with Bi-xenons. I'll test them, thanks! Should also be able to pass the vehicle inspection here too since they're not the main beams.

Yes, I used them for sidelights and they worked fine, as long as you get a decent set of CAN bus ones to prevent flashing or remaining on after the vehicle is locked.

Oooh I didn't know you need to look for that too. Hmm. I tried one of the cob ones on the interior and they were flashing. Does that mean they'd flash in the headlights too?
The plate lights are SMDs and they work as intended.

There are varying levels of quality on these - you need to do a bit of research and check out reviews if available from other owners.

Cheers. The ones I got are silicone cobs. On YT people said they worked but not sure if they're canbus.

Re: C5 X7 ambient lighting (and some other bits and pieces)
To update on this, I took a peek in the door pocket into the holes where the lights are suppose to be and well, there are none. Just holes. So I guess mine doesn't have it? Both doors don't. I doubt someone removed them on purpose. There are two holes at the top of the pocket but both are empty it seems.GiveMeABreak wrote: 24 Apr 2022, 22:42 The side pocket lights come on when the hand is detected putting something in.
