Thankfully my "problem" of the hazards not working at all, but direction indicators fully functional, was cured by a simple disconnecting and reconnecting the switch after a bit of cleaning with electrical contact cleaner.

But that didn't stop me looking at other threads where a little abbreviation UCH was used and big money to sort out seemingly trivial problems with basic electrical functions like the hazard lights failing to turn off!

So in goes Unite Centrale Habitacle just in case :-D

Regards Neil
It's already in but a gentle reminder came the way of a recent cry for assistance with a Clio Wiper problem posted in the Renault section, which I attempted to provide some assistance on to the poster, and could well be a UCH problem manifesting itself.
So as well as the Achille's heel of the Clio, the UCH already in Room 101, I extend the citation to, in general
Extremely minor malfunctions which used to be easily fixable which can now cause the scrapping of perfectly good cars.
The example in the thread, was windscreen wipers stopping working on a 2007 Clio. Yes, we have all got used to the features of the modern wipers...dual speed, intermittent, automatic operation with rain sensors in the windscreen, wash wipe, etc. Circuitry is a little more complex than it used to be.

Just as easily the malfunction could be the horn, the hazard lights, the indicators, the electric windows, headlights, side lights, interior light etc etc.

For the ordinary mortal it's a trip to the "experts", who after the usual bit of lucrative diagnosis, and a bit of rubbing their hands together, tell the unfortunate customer that the reason the said simple component isn't working is because their UCH is malfunctioning (whether by poor manufacture/design/built in obsolescence or whatever).

They can fix the minor problem of the indicators, or the hazard lights not working properly, or indeed the wipers not working by replacing and recoding the UCH, and quite possibly a range of other components it is also tied into, for more than the car is worth.

So into my personal room 101 goes "the general level of ignorance of the geography and history of Great Britain"
More evidence on last night's broadcast episode.

The Question
Your bonuses are on place names in England and Scotland. In each case name the place from the description. All three end in the same six letters.
Developed as a series of Villages, an area of the City of Sunderland that was designated a new town in 1964. It shares its name with a national leader born in 1732
The team from Gonville and Caius College Cambridge set to work...
"1732, so any idea?"
"But it might not be British, National, but might not be British"
"Its six letters, might be "bridge"
"Do we know any places in Sunderland?"
"No, no idea"
"Can we guess any national leaders?"
(head shaking all round)
"pass"
I think Steve would have a decent chance at getting it :-D

That seems a very unfair question... A bit like asking the name of the locality of Paggers I live in..

A clue - there was once a special edition Ford Capri named after it, amongst other special editions...

Gaydon was what came to mind although Ford Capri Gaydon doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Smartwatches. That's what I'd put into room 101. Bloody annoying things that we've been conditioned to need. I've had various models over the years, but you know what? I've stopped wearing them and gone back to my traditional Tissot watch made out of metal and whirring bits. It feels like a watch. Even better, it can't bug me with reminders, messages, weather and a load of other intrusive twaddle that I don't need. Oh, I know you can turn the notifications off, but then as an information-hungry chap, I have to keep looking if it doesn't alert me. Since I stopped wearing it, my stress level has dropped considerably, and there's something comforting about a heavy metal watch with a nice face.

No way my smartwatch is going in Room 101 Mike! I love my Garmin Forerunner 945 but to be fair its primary use is for recording runs and duathlons so the smart bits are a bit of a by-product. I set it to Do Not Disturb - as I do with my phone - for a good proportion of the evening and night so it does not constantly ping me with stuff I don't need or want to know...

When not recording a run or other activity it displays a traditional analogue clock face... Not a fan of digital clocks of any sort - they can go in Room 101...

Thats the beauty of the FCF room 101. Deposits are your own personal Room 101. A 100% difference of personal opinion on can be accommodated without challenge. :-D

:rant2: I am sick and tired of seeing my sporting events being devalued by having pundit panels filled with selections for PC reasons rather than their actual experience of the sport under discussion. When there is a plethora of available ex Formula 1 drivers available why are we being fobbed off with people who have never driven an F1 car? Why are the football games being analysed and discussed by people who could not qualify to play in the games under discussion? Why oh why are we so weak that we cannot stand up to the PC clan and explain that what we want is the best qualified people, regardless of age, sex or race, to add their views to the discussion!!!!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) :rant2:
