Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Until now I'd never stopped to think about the meaning of "Pininfarina", but as I now know, "Pinin" Farina - the youngest & smallest of the Farina family - changed his surname to Pininfarina.
How funny that the original name of the man responsible for so many designs that epitomise elegance, style and speed, should simply mean 'Flour'. To me that raises images of bread & stodgy puddings - no wonder he changed his name!
Can I offer an antipodean photo of the day - not taken today, but hopefully no-one will mind
Cheers
Alec

Fantastic Alec, an excellent debut on the POTD thread, and please become a regular poster. No threshhold of interestingness or relevance or standard of photography on this thread, no pussy-footing around just bang the pictures up.Armidillo wrote: ↑22 Jun 2020, 02:33 Until now I'd never stopped to think about the meaning of "Pininfarina", but as I now know, "Pinin" Farina - the youngest & smallest of the Farina family - changed his surname to Pininfarina.

Even if your cars are going tickety-boo there is plenty to be enjoyed on the FCF. Pininfarina got a bit of an airing late yesterday with this
viewtopic.php?p=648317&hilit=pininfarina#p648317
and our little "whatsthisthen?" thread started off with an austin kimberley back in 2014,
and only a couple of days ago with an Austin Major Elite with a bit of farina-esque tail-fins and rocket flash.

Never seen one of those but the wheels and roof section are unmistakably Morris Oxford design.

Wildflower of the day. If you leave your lawn uncut for long enough a decent crop of these will spring up (round here anyway!) Never noticed or seen so many. I think grasscutting these days deliberately leaves some areas which used to be cut uncut, or less frequently cut to the benefit of a diversity of wildflowers.

Herpetology Club makes its debut on POTD
Walking along a narrow footpath, by the side of a fenced-off large pond, I wondered what all the insects were flitting around the path. Turns out they were literally hundreds of tiny frogs.
Its that time of year, anyone else noticed the pitter patter of tiny frogs

Daughter was walking through a park near Rianton and the paths were completely covered with them.NewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑22 Jun 2020, 13:57 Herpetology Club makes its debut on POTD

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
My POTD comes from my maths tutorial I gave yesterday. The topic was triangles, how to work with them and what they do for us. When I got home I remembered a good illustration of how they can be used to make a difference which I shall take with me next week, in the meantime a preview:
Who would have predicted a Land Rover on a French Colony stamp?

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Ah ! But they make for an inefficient use of space on the back of a postcard. Not everything is good in triangle world

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Is that Brakspears Oxford Gold from the Henly brewery? Brakspears was my favourite for a time but at the momemt I go for Sharps Doom Bar, brewed in Cornwall and under license in Burton on Trent at I believe the old Double Diamond brewery!!
