First one doesn't post to Ireland but the 8t does, so it's definitely an option. I think I'll buy it over the Christmas when herself isn't looking 😜

Hi All, got hammered by the storm, we had no electricity heating or water since Friday. The wind was that strong it broke the rope that was holding down the bonnet and damaged the hinges and bent the rear most points on the bonnet thankfully didn't break the windscreen. It did however bend the doors on my metal shed I was able to bend them back close to straight so will have to do.
I think I can repair the bonnet. I got the gear cables reconnected, compressor and rad pack installed I also got the fuel pipes and auxillary belt on as well. So given the amount of time available I'm happy enough apart from the damage of course. I don't remember wind like it before in my lifetime.

I have the passenger side driveshaft in all the rad pack bits back in place all the fuel and coolant lines and the ECU and fuse box installed. I have the upper compressor hose back but I need to put the turbo to intercooler pipe on to allow me to put on the compressor hose. I tried cleaning the sump covered but the oil seems to be what's holding part of it together so gave up and just put it back on. The sump has some shocking putting on the outside but when I had it off the inside was fine so not concerned about it. It would take a lot of time for the pitting to go deep enough to cause a problem so happy to throw it back on. If it becomes an issue I can just pull the sump off the old engine. I hope to finish putting it together this weekend and try to get it running and hopefully it will run well.

Ok so I fit the turbo to intercooler pipe which just didn't want to go on but done now. I also got the driver side driveshaft fitted and I am going to put compressor lower hose on in a bit. I invested in a pop up gazebo which helps a bit . I just keep picturing it like the house in the wizard of Oz up in air and on to a passing car hopefully not.

A bit of a strange one the wipers keep turning on today all by themselves so I disconnected the battery

Ha ha, my (car tinkering) gazebo ended it's days when I left it out thinking "it's not that windy" but woken up next morning to find it upside down, other end of the garden with two broken legs!

Its a short term solution, the problem is the wind around here is that strong at the best of times the powers that be felt it justified installing a large windfarrm.so maybe not the wisest move on my part
I had to take it down last night due to the weather. But I have all the under car work done now so mission accomplished for now at least I need to clean the injector ports and install the ones I had tested fill fluids and I should be good to start testing. It took nearly two months to swap engines with all the delays and bad weather.

The problem is the replacement engine is now out of the 30 day warranty. So if it doesn't run I am snookered

Let's leave that pessimistic scenario on the drawing board for now!

Takes me ages to do stuff too!

Thanks Matt needed that. Yeah note to self. Don't be such a bloody pessimist 😂. I don't know it seems to take forever to get things done that I used to do in half the time. I'm sitting in the missus car as I am typing this and there is a distinct misfire as it's idling. Same engine more or less as the C5. I think it needs a good service another job for the Christmas break.

Keep your pecker up, your doing great and patience will be rewarded.

You will solve the missus's car misfire no problem and a good service will do it good.

Like myself I have an issue with my Audi Q3 re missing parts and wiring.
