Beef for me Mick just what I was hoping for....late Sunday dinner! Northumberland leek pudding with the usual trimmings please, and some horseradish sauce. Well Mick and Bob the local beers are from Cheviot Brewery just up the road on the Ford and Etal Estate. As you might expect names are pretty much based on local features.
You will have seen a few hills on our ride today So the first out the hat of their cask ales is....

I'm sorry to say we may have to blow out on the darts, I just had an arrow bounce out of the double 12 and fall straight into the landlady's G&T and she wasn't too impressed!! I bought her another immediately but the flights are all soggy and useless for at least an hour or so!! Not that surprising really it's been happening all over England since 1896 when the numbering system was devised:

I expect the answer on the card could be Brian Gamlin but the "spoiler in a spoiler" hints that some support a case for Thomas William Buckle being a possible candidate.

You see, many people consider the evidence for Brian Gamlin’s involvement to be insufficient and lacking. Recent research has been unable to procure a death certificate for a man named Brian Gamlin around the time of his rumored passing in 1903. Further compounding the matter is the fact that Gamlin never filed a patent for his design.

Some people believe that it was a Thomas William Buckle, wire worker by trade, who came up with the standard sequence used to this day.

Thomas Buckle is given credit by some for inventing the Yorkshire variation of the board, which is functionally identical to the standard board with the exception that it is missing the doubles and trebles sections.

Whether we owe the standard dartboard to a Brian Gamlin or a Thomas Buckle remains a contentious point with fierce supporters on both sides of the debate. My take on the matter? I believe the lack of a death certificate is nowhere near as conclusive as the Buckle supporters claim.

Especially if we take into consideration that Mr. Gamlin was said to be involved in the traveling carnival circuit, which means it is possible he may have died far away from Lancashire.

The first name is indeed the one I was looking for having not dug into it quite as deeply as you did Neil!! Food for thought there then!!

My nickname at pool is "Semtex", because when I break the pack explodes. My best ever break (which I have yet to match) was six; three yellows and three reds. My opponent wandered over once everything had stopped moving and said "I wanted a game of pool, not half a game!".

I play for a pub pool team in the Monday league. I hope that I will be able to play again some time fairly soon. My cue skills have gone down to the pub without me and got lost.

You arent expecting me to say Flodden is much nearer here.....which it is. Not sure how near we go to the site on our Day 8 route.

Well the measure of a good meal in my book is a clean plate, and thats exactly what mine is.
I take it we are having a round of pool in between courses, I think Ive still got room for a pudding. Now in our house for some reason Sunday lunch was followed by a "milk pudding". pudding rice/tapioca that sort of thing. So just for old times sake I,m going to get them to rustle me up a bowl of frogspawn as we used to call it! and a tin of carnation milk (need I say it evaporated..of course) to pour over it.
