Someone has complied a map of Pubs used by the RAF in WWII. If the link works it gives some information on the White Hart.....but it is google Mick so I have extracted the verbage here...
The White Hart at Brasted is the most famous Battle of Britain pub. It serviced the pilots of the RAF Biggin Hill squadrons that defended Kent during the Battle. When off duty they would drink here and many of the pilots signed a large blackout board. That blackout board is now preserved at the Shoreham Aircraft Museum. Unfortunately, the pub itself was refurbished a few years ago and very little of the period details and memorabilia were retained.
Details from Google Map

..and I think this is "Shag" Eckford's signature on the Board, which now resides at Shoreham Aircraft Museum.

Thanks for that Neil, it is an example of where my personal practices can make stuff :) unavailable to me normally. It will be interesting to see if I get anything at all back from the pub in view of that!!

Welcome Bert!

..and for POTD a related picture.
As you might expect Volvo pride themselves on longevity, although it will be hilarious to see whether computer systems, software and electronics bring an end to the longevity game by prematurely scrapping cars as uneconomic to repair, or impossible to repair after 10 years or so.

So this is a picture of a 3,000,000 mile Volvo

One of a few more miscellaneous pictures. Wife and I with son and family on the way to the north of Scotland. A good stop off for a break, 'The Hermitage' north of Perth on the A9. Note the registration numbers.

That picture seems to ring a bell Peter, have you posted it up on another thread at some point? :)

I don't remember doing so but I don't remember much at all these days, possibly on Noz'z XM website.

Is this a new "How many times can we justify repeating a picture" competition? In which case my claim is that I didn't give you a like first time round Peter, so I have rectified it now!! :-D

I so wish that the wagons had made it to Australia! We only got V6 auto hatchback Xms - and only about 150 of those were sold over here. There were also a handful of personal imports, and no doubt there was a wagon or 2 among them, but naturally you never see one for sale...

I do have a Xantia wagon, and it's very nice, but it's not an Xm.

Cheers

All mine were 2.1 manual diesels Alec, very economical. I had about four with the same registration letters 'N---YBL' registered in Slough I think which is where a lot were sold. These were the last ones with mechanical fuel pumps - very reliable.

Peter

Thanks Mick. :)

Hope I haven't shown this one before - if I have you had better get me certified. :? Just off the A9 near Golspie.

That's strange, when you enlarge it, it turns upside down. :?

As that post came up I noticed I've reached 2600 posts, another number worthy of a celebratory car. It would have been easy to put up a picture of my Rover 2600 SDi but as it was really a 2300 with a bigger lump in it I don't think that would be right! :-D Not to mention the fact that it gives me the opportunity to post another great favourite of mine which qualifies with a 2600cc engine:
