So an unusual choice for Picture of the Day, but if you are switched on to forum activity today you will soon make the connection. A Japanese retro tourist train.....er and rather than a still screenshot might as well have moving pictures :-D

Tyre tread depth checkers

The US version where Lincoln's hair is the key measure, was used in a driving safety campaign combined with a bit of clever marketing by Michelin and Vans (the "sneaker" brand) aimed at teenagers in the US.

Teens had to pass one simple test: insert a U.S. penny into their tyre tread and upload a photo/video to www.BeyondTheDrivingTest.com. If you can see the top of Abe Lincoln's head, it’s time to replace your tyres. Only by sharing this test on social media could they qualify to win one of only 100 pairs of the exclusive #StreetTreadContest Vans.

Well I had to do a fair bit of digging to find these pictures from our boat trip around Southampton Water and The Solent. The trip was in August 2012 as the Queens gathered to celebrate an event.

Yes they certainly were!! It was chucking it down that day, so much so that despite the capes we all had to strip off and towel ourselves dry when we got back to the car!! Some hilarity as I went with a friend, her daughter and her mother!! As it was my car I didn't want the seats soaked and had taken 4 bath towels for the purpose. :-D :-D :-D

The weather should be no barrier to taking a few pictures and hopefully these from me will make the point that....

Pictures of the Day dont have to be that good.
So you have an abstract Jean Baudrillard-esque composition where the subject disappears into the object

While I did not take these pictures today they are valid to post up on a Thursday, as it is Clap for the Carers day. They are also double rainbows;

It hasn't stopped raining long enough to get a decent picture of Lyme Bay so here are a couple I prepared earlier:

Super a flurry of entries on POTD and here Peter and James you are mentioned in despatches on one from me.

Well James did the 7000th post, and Peter the 7000th Reply just now on CitroJims blog.

Turned up this random picture on a search which is appropriate as a celebration. Taken by another Citroen enthusiast.

Photo here and if you peruse the photostream with the left and right arrow you will not be disapointed at the excellent photography

Well this is genuinely a picture of today. Battery was out on the camera on the dog walk this morning when it was fresh, blue skies and fluffy white clouds and the countryside and moors full of colour.

This afternoon got a bit damp and drab, but I caught this little family of ducks in weather that they are legendarily supposed to enjoy! Its a still from a video which I thought was may best chance of getting something in focus. Not exactly a roaring success but it is a genuine POTD and as we all know not every day is sunny or in focus!

To celebrate our newest member heres a POTD of one of those things that are a rarity now, and probably worth keeping with the benefit of hindsight.

My Grandpa used to have one of these, claimed he could go up Medomsley Bank with his hands in his pockets!

Plenty of cc's all 1000 of them. Rudge V Twin
