Seeing as the Cresta PA memories have been flooding into the thread...I have unearthed a fascinating series of original brochures herecovering virtually everything about the Cresta/Velox. Interesting bit on the Auto box....or like "greased Lightning" the "Hydromatic". Also this thing known as the Vauxhall Friary Estate CarCitroJim wrote:That conjurers an image in my mind Stevemyglaren wrote: A friend had a pink Vauxhall Cresta that worked that way too.
Actually, if it was a PA Cresta they looked absolutely sensational in pink
Yes, more than likely a vibrator unless it used a set of special valves especially designed for running at 12v... Some of this era also were hybrid designs with transistors in the audio stages and valves in the RF, mixer and IF stages. Again, those valves were often the special 12v versions.white exec wrote:Valves!!!! So that would have come with a vibrator, then!
Peter will put me right on this.

If he disappears into there, we'll never see him again
They cater for car meets and rallies there. Plan to go when there's a gathering of some old and interesting vehicles and you get even more to look at ☺ You'll definitely need a full day there.CitroJim wrote:
That's very true!!!
I've heard of the Chalkpits but not yet visited... I'll love it because in addition to vintage wireless I love vintage industrial stuff of all kinds...
I must plan a visit very soon... Thanks for that
