It is noticeable when we go down south that there are a lot more older cars in visually good condition than there are up here - the 'winter' weather must have something to do with this. The underside of my 2001 Xantia is looking decidedly rusty in places....

Robert, I almost have a twin of your picture
I have had a very good dose of spanner therapy this morning this was the result at lunchtime:

So that's the nosecone off. The bumper insert is crusty but solid and as you can see, the rad is out, the battery box is out, the air box and the LHM reservoir are all out...
We're cookin' on gas
In fact that's the next thing to look at to isolate and disconnect...
Spanner therapy is something you just can't beat
It really does me a power of good.
Chris570 was with me for company this morning whilst he used my facilities to replace the 'P' bushes, round bushes and lower swivels on his Activa wishbones and new hubs.
Any queries regarding replacing any of the above, just ask Chris, he's now a specialist...

Yep, they're the ones Dom
hope Chris said hello from me...
Old Activas never die, they just get recycled into other Activas!!!
Here's a quick shot of what remains in the engine bay as at 4PM today...

More later, off out for a meal with friends shortly...

The loomrobert_e_smart wrote:What is all that loose wiring on the drivers side wheel arch Jim?
All the ECUs are now out Robert, and a lot of what you see is the nosecone loom coiled up and the mass of LPG wiring spaghetti...
The LPG wiring (and installation in general) is truly awful
Had it not been for the LPG I'd be a lot further ahead by now....

Nothe vapouriser hoses are not factory at all. In fact they are very poor indeed...
I did get a slight worry when I looked at the coolant. It loked very rusty but when I looked closer it was the red/pink/orange stuff and in quantity it looks just like rust...
The rad is knacked terribly. Best price so far I found for this item of rocking horse poo was £250 but toinight a kind person from the XM fellowship has directed me to a source of them for just over £100.. Result!!!
Now if only they did exhausts and new strut tops for the same price too!!!!
No, the ES9 has no oil cooler on the engine but the transmission does have an oil-water one which is reliable so long as the cooling system has been looked after and no additives have been used.addo wrote: Guessing they didn't fit these with the Super-Porous™ engine oil-water cooler?
