Well, a quick call to the garage today and apparently all is now well again

Yes there is the trifle matter of the bill to settle

but the car is apparently running great and super smooth after having almost everything replaced on top end and timing side of the engine 8)

Picking it up in the morning

Im sure the "sting" will die down quickly of the bill

The list is as follows Jim,

Remove the head and strip it. Clean up the valves and check all clearances etc before re assembly with the following new components:

cam seal,
crank seal
cambelt
valve stem seals
rocker gasket
headgasket
crank breather hose
waterpump
glow plugs
Oil Filter
Oil
Coolant change

So all in all a pretty thorough spruce up up top

All OE standard parts fitted, Dayco Belt, Ruville pump, Beru glow plugs, Payen full head gasket kit including cam seal and stem seals, Purflux oil filter (Citroen boxed), Citroen breather hose.

Back on the road again the car highlights the chasm of difference between driving a coil sprung vehicle and a hydraulic one 8)

All is well on the western front with circa 130 trouble and smoke free miles racked up.

The car has been treated to an exterior clean up and a quick engine bay detail. The only change i have noticed is that the cover just after that the fuel priming bulb (the one that the fuel hose then sits into) doesnt seem as secure as it used to be. Before the work im sure it didnt move...now it does

I cant see how it can fit other than how it is fitted but i would welcome any close up pictures anyone can send my way of how it secures in place

Not close ups but they might show a difference in cable/hose routing as I recall they alone should hold it fairly firm. I can get close-ups tomorrow if no-one else beats me to it.

Thanks Mike but yours has a bit more cabling around that area than mine does so i can see how that would hold it in place on yours....

Dont get me wrong, mine stays in place, but it can be moved with your hand whereas before im sure it was solidly fixed.

Thanks for those Mike,

From looking at yours it seems that one if not more clips have been broken off mine. I have one on the LH rear looking in from the front of the engine bay and one low clip (more like a bolt / rivet) on the rear rh (again looking in from the front) but nothing on the front at either side. It is because of this it moves around im sure.

Its a bit dark now so i will have to have a look this weekend or tomorrow evening when i get home.

Well its about time i fixed the ABS sensor on the OSR of mine. I darent check when my MOT runs out as im half convinced that it has already expired

So I have the sensor (OE Citroen one) and have ordered some new backplates from Citroen which will land on Tuesday.

I also have a box of bulbs to get my dash lights all working again.....another job i have left far too long

Hopefully i will have some time on my own this weekend to get these jobs done

Thankfully there's some good write-ups on here on the rear ABS sensors Vince and that'll help the job no end.

I need a gross or so of bulbs for mine. Can you supply them at a reasonable cost? I reckon 20 should do as I want to replace them wholesale. My dash is down to mood lighting now

Hi Jim, thanks for the quick chat early on....i managed to get to my local GSF in time to pick up a return hose (original Citroen one too) and it is one of the jobs i have lined up for tomorrow

When i get back to work next week i will pick up one for the other side too as you can bet that one isnt too far away from needing to be replaced either.....

As far as your dash bulbs go, from a chat i had with Citroen the other day the bulbs differ with the make of clocks you have in...im not sure if thats true but i have Jaeger clocks in mine so they are 286 push in bulbs apparently. I will find out when i take the clocks out...and see if they were right

. I always through they would be the plastic twist and pull out ones like most other vehicles.....Im sure you will know better through experience

As for a good price....of course

In the meantime, I have converted my front fogs to old style french yellow ones......I like them when they are lit up (the photo makes them look a little washed out but they are very yellow) but i am undecided whether i like them when they are off....opinions are welcome

Notice the nibbled off corner of my number plate....i nudged into someones towbar at the lights a while back

Yes, i bought it from Abode Window Film, they make loads of colours for stained glass windows. Check out their website....its only £8.50 for a big sheet
