Thoroughly enjoyed all four episodes of "Carry on Glamping" on Channel 4 Following Johnny Vegas and Bev Dixon through the trials and tribulation of Setting up a Glamping field with several old vehicles sourced and converted.

I haven't watched it.... as it hasn't been on yet ! but BBC4 9.00pm tonight (17/5/21)
Classic British Cars : Made In Coventry.
"To celebrate the award of UK City of Culture 2021 to Coventry, local boy Mark Evans tells the full history of the classic cars made in Coventry,
This passionate retrospective runs from the industry's beginnings in 1897 through to the present day and includes interviews and archive footage detailing the stories behind the creation of classic marques such as the Daimler, the Triumph, the Riley and the Jaguar and the companies and people behind them."

Watched it last night. Wonderful.
Bicycles . . . Rootes, Hillman, Jaguar, Riley, Standard-Triumph, Rover and Alvis - and brushes with BMC/Leyland.
A terrific programme.

Yes I watched that too, I wonder if we will ever get back what has been destroyed in recent years.

WARNING : Random thread digression......

Towards the end of that TV programme there were a couple of chaps unflattening a sheet of metal using an English Wheel in the Alvis workshop. Those of you familiar with The Repair Shop will know of Dominic Chinea - the beardy bloke relegated to working on metal things outside in the open barn. He's got his own workshop elsewhere and one of his tools is his Edwards English Wheel, but he hankered after a Ranalah English Wheel, but couldn't get hold of one for love nor money...... so he's just bought the Ranalah company name and now intends to get hold of one on loan so he can get some moulds done and then put them back into production. Hurrah ! :)

Looks like my TV repertoire can get DAVE and watch it live but not Dave + 1. Looking at the episode guide looks like it covers more than just electrics
Series 2 Episode 3
James explores the wilder shores of motoring to discover what happened to the cars of the future that we were promised. From improbable steam cars and ludicrous jet turbines, he reveals how the petrol engine and the power it gave us came to dominate the 20th century. He takes to the waves in an amphibious car, risks his life at the wheel of a notorious electric scooter and takes a hair-raising trip in the fastest driverless car on earth. James looks at how steam power came to influence the birth of the petrol engine; takes a ride in a limited edition last of its kind 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car with owner Jay Leno; explores the ongoing battle between Porsche and TVR; and takes the first ever amphibious car for a spin in the Pembrokeshire lakes.

That's a fairly good description but it missed out the fact that the program began with James driving his own BMW i3 went right through the development including Hyundai IX35 fuel cell car and ended up back with the i3. Very enjoyable hour's viewing!! :-D

Watched the first bit so far with his I3. His I3 was one of the early ones and was an I3REX ie it has a range extender small petrol engine. There are 2 Flaps on the side one for petrol one for the plug in. I've spoken to charging point buddies with the I3 Rex very happy with it, and hardly ever put petrol in it. Not sure if the I3 REx is still available.

It isnt, increasing Battery range for the I3 meant BMW Ditched it in 2019
https://insideevs.com/news/340090/updat ... in-europe/

“The Range Extender i3 will cease production and we will only sell the pure-electric version going forward. With the gains in pure-electric range, together with the increasing availability of rapid charging facilities we believe the customer demand is shifting to an pure-electric model.”

It's possible that decision to kill the REx versions was made after the introduction of the 44.2 kWh battery, when the feedback encouraged BMW to go all-electric only. The decision may be WLTP based, too.
