Now Mick is the tenuous link to exactly 79,000 or roughly 79.000.

If its roughly then that young lady Nadia Whittome, recently elected Labour MP for Nottingham East and "The Baby of the House" being the youngest MP elected in the December General Election, receives a salary of £79,468. She has announced she will only take £35,000 and donate the rest to local charities.

Now it may have been reported elsewhere as a round £79,000 salary.......and hence the link

Spot on Neil, I found it on the following link and hence saw it as exactly 79000!! You just can't believe what you read these days!!

According to my calculations that means she pays £19785.40 in tax, takes home £35000 and donates £24678.40 to charity. All we need is for the rest of the MP's to do the same and they might then realise what the public sector workers are worth!!

A simple photo of the Maersk Connector a ship at Blyth, taken last week. I like to find out about stuff. Maersk are an interesting company in their own right, a major force in world shipping and trade from their family roots in Denmark.

As for the Maersk Connector its a cable laying ship, and here it is at work on UK's West Coast, deliberately beached due to the large tidal range in the course of its cable laying work to an offshore wind installation. Nice bit of background story to "add to the picture".

I had cause to visit Blyth yesterday, second visit, last one was 24 years ago, don't get about much
I was down near the docks and on the way home drove down the quayside and was very impressed with dozens of huge cable reels loitering there.
No camera but there are a few pictures of some of them here:





Not as impressive as driving past dozens upon dozens of them a few yards from the car but gives an indication of the scale of them.
